Kaylee, astrovan:
At least we are helping the OP look at all sides of this q. Rather than shooting orders (positive or negative) at them.
ValK, not sure what you are getting at. No evidence says ONLY dogs with 'weak immune systems' succumb to either Lepto (or other diseases), OR any problems with the anti-lepto vaccinations. And no-one knows if the OP is planning to breed this dog.
[If YOU contract pneumonia sometime, do you advise your Doctor to just let you die, to make sure you don't breed ?
(Assuming you were still of reproductive age). Logically, you should support that ! ]

There IS proven research that shows reactions to such vaccines (Please visit Dr. Jean Dodd's website). They are NOT just rumors. I, for one, nearly lost two dogs to adverse, serious reactions to the lepto AND rabies vaccines. My friend's dog nearly died two months ago from vaccines. So, you are very misinformed.
I've learned to "ignore" ignorance, because in the long wrong, it's MY dogs who will live a healthy, long life.
Side note: I titre test my dogs every 3 years. If they were to show weak immunity, I'll vaccinate. Though I will detox them prior and after.

I have also never had, witnessed or had any associates report or complain about reactions or effects from vaccines. and I'm talking many dogs.
I have seen whole litters lost to parvo, so if anyone is advocating parvo vacs are bad, consider the alternative.
lepto, kind of rare in my area but I always did it, once.
and I'm not in any way disputing anyone else's experience or advice, I;m just relating my own.
if there were not significant health risks/deaths (probably millions to parvo), there would never have been an incentive for vaccines.
everyone needs to make their own choices. like I said, lepto is very low risk in my area, but I would not accept any non scientific anecdotal evidence from any anonymous WWW poster over the health of my dogs if it were.
seriously, a very strong/healthy/genetically blessed GSD lives 10-15 years. that would have to be some very muffed up stuff to shorten that life span.

Rik

You can get different results from different researchers, depends what they support often times. I go to AMexican veterinary Association, see what they say, find researchers who you trust in what they learned.

Jean Dodds is a quack whose "findings" have not been verified or peer reviewed. She is not respected in the veterinary community. She did some good work thirty years ago and apparently believes that makes her infallible enough that she no longer has to utilize peer review or scientific method.
Any reference to her or Mercola or Dr Becker should be immediately disregarded as spurious at best.

"I have never had an incidence of parvo/ lepto or any of the other diseases that are vaccinated against."
Yep, you hear that from people who justify being antivaccination all the time. Meanwhile millions of animals have died from those diseases.
The breeder I bought some of my dogs from claimed she's never had a dog get parvo but one of my dog's littermates almost died from parvo. So, you can forgive me for rolling my eyes at such claims.
Edited because my point was unclear when I first wrote my response.

I didn't mean to imply your post wasn't rational. I was just relaying that titers really are a fool's game for the most part, despite what people think. There's no accepted "level" of any titer that indicates immunity.

@jillmissal - I'm not sure what you are using as a basis of '....not been peer reviewed..." or "...work from 30 years ago..." She has quite a bit of research on Vaccination Protocos that have been published and reviewed in the AHVMA & AAHA Journals. Not to mention the number of private & Corporate Vetrinary clinics that have adopted her recomended protocal & the current vetrinary medicine schools who currently teach it. Even the IVC jounal has published her REVIEWED Vaccination schedule for Equine. I understand you have a distrust of her, her work and even those who have reviewed it. But please be a little more correct in your statements.

Ignorance....ugh

She has, though, been caught using her "company" as a front and conducting multiple scams.
She, Mercola, and Becker need to be shot into the sun for their misinformation campaigns. They put the entire population at risk.
