Funny :) Those testicles have been gone so long, nobody is missing them anymore. And yes, the ball does bounce in fun ways. I initially said it has 4 holes. Actually, it has six. It's shaped sort of like a cube with rounded corners, a hole in each side. When you toss it, it lands on a corner and then bounces unpredictably. When he was a young dog Marcus was nuts for the bounce action. These days he just likes to gnaw himself to sleep on it.

i have the same ball! if u lived in england i would send it to you.
by Aqua on 11 March 2008 - 23:03
Is it really the exact same ball? Can you post a picture? If it is, I'll pay you for sending it to Pennsylvania. Can you still buy them where you are? If so, can you give me a store name or a Website?
I can't believe I'm driving half the world crazy over a dog toy!

Any luck finding the ball yet?
by Aqua on 12 March 2008 - 19:03
WE FOUND IT! Sort of.
It's the ExelPet Dog Fun Ball Toy made by Pedigree, just s Shannon remembered, and is avalible at an online retailer in the UK. We are now trying to locate a seller in the US. If we can't, then we'll have to order from England.
Domenic said he'd go to another shop this evening after work to see if they have it, he got a lead from a clerk elsewhere. So we'll wait to see what he turns up before ordering.
Shannon, do you want us to get a supply for you as well?

Having lost an older dog in the past year I can fully empathize wanting to do what ever you can to make them happy. It's only fair, given the amount of happiness they give to us. I'm glad you found it.

Yes, when they get this old they can pretty much do and have anything they want. We lost two Old Ones back in 2003 within just a couple of months of each other. Caring for them during their last weeks is some of the most gratifying work I've ever done, even though it was hard and often messy work. I felt I was giving back to them just a fraction of the devotion and loyalty they gave us in the years we lived together.
Marcus may not be with us for very much longer. We're doing what we can to support him nutritionally. What we've learned from various vet consults is that by the time renal failure shows up in blood work and urinalysis up to 75% of kidney function is already impaired. It's true that at 13 years old his life span is already limited but he is, generally speaking, a healthy dog. Somewhat wobbly in the rear as a result of HD (OFA fair), a little hard of hearing, and yes, he does have that annoying old dog bark. Wouldn't want to do without it!
He wants to have this very ball and you bet! If it's out there, we'll get it. As it turns out, an e-mail friend found one in the bottom of the last toy box she looked, and she's mailing it to us. As well, there's an online store in England that sells them, and I'm in contact with them. I had mobilized a bunch of folks on my e-mail list and another friend posted to her agility group, so there were a whole lot of people searching for this silly ball. Plus, Domenic here drove all over his town from pet store to pet store.
Sometimes the Internet is really, really wonderful!

Best of luck getting this ball quickly to make your old friend happy in his last days. I've been looking for you also but no luck other than in England. In fact, I bet everyone who has read this thread has been looking. God bless the wonderful people who have been able to help you find this.

Hello Aqua,
I live in England and have found and ordered a ball for you from here, not too easy to come across as it seems they are discontinued.
For anyone interested it was from www.petshop-online.co.uk
Pet planet will link to the ball then tell you it is discontiued.
Ordered one for my dog to have a go at too as it looks fun!
Please accept it as a present from across the seas!
Have sent you a PM for your details. Hope it will arrive in time to give Marcus a last bit of fun in his old age
Kind regards
Ann.
