The silence is deafening.

Sue,
But, Rik got your attention, didn't he? :-)
Rik,
You should have left it all there. It is a viewpoint we don't see often, if at all, on this forum.

Absolutely!
I am still scratching my head wondering what the fact that HighDeserts dog barked at a stranger is supposed to prove, let alone how that seperates that dog from the Goldens Rik referred to. Most dogs will alert to strangers, and act very brave, when there is a door or a window seperating them from any actual threat (the old "hold me back" syndrome). Bring that same dog out to the field, face a good decoy, then we can JUST begin to test courage and nerve in the face of adversity.

I'm here you know I do have other things to do LOL!! I'm not silenced nor am I considering selling all my garbage like Mr. Rik says..
I'm just reading the usual bashing and for a change I will shut up cause it doesn't do shit to talk on this database anyway!! I prefer keeping my saliva for better things than starting this fight again..I understand this is a GSD database but only W/L GSD. All the show people are not welcome here and thank god we have our own forum where we can discuss between breeders and handlers of real things without being bashed around like we should not exist..For me this board is a waste of time..altought I like reading sometimes some interesting things on training (and sometimes very stupid things too!!) It's kinda amusing...
Rik..you like working dog now..well good for you..I'm glad you found your way
I don't know what you have bred (and personnally since you have done only shit like you say) I don't want to know!! Maybe you have failed and you are frustrated about it ( bad breeding happens in every lines)..anyway it's not my business..Good luck with your REAL GSD now..
Enough said ..I will go walked my garbage dogs now..(did I say they could walk on a straight line also..not just circle!!).LOL

"Scott Bodecker started in schutzhund with an Ambred, as I recall. Admittedly, I don't know whether he titled the dog. "
Sorry, I am just now getting around to reading this thread. Yes, I did start with an American bred dog. The breeder told me that he was the most suited from the litter for work/play because he liked to bark at her cows. It turns out she was right!
We got the Sch 1 and took high Sch 1 at the Regional Championship one year. Same thing at the Regional Championship the next year for the Sch 2. The following year, we got the Sch 3 and qualified and showed at the Nationals. We placed right in the middle (42nd out of 84 entries or something really close to that number). I probably had the only $175 dog on the field. We also got an Fh and Wh.
I had to endure a lot of discouraging remarks along the way. One top german trainer said he could maybe get a Sch1 on a home field with a home helper on a good day. One lady at the Nationals thought he was a bitch and told me so while we were waiting to go on the protection field!
Of course, I had enormous support from my club, family and region. He was a great dog (not the best schutzhund dog), but taught me a lot and was a great friend. I miss him!
Thanks for remembering!

Is this serious? there has to be a punch line here somewhere. Why would you ruin a perfectly good dog with the Ameican Shepherd. That is what tehy are...the German Shepherd isn't bred in America, only by some breeders taht actually follow teh SV rules and even tehn if both parents are imported they are German Shepherd. All the 8,000 other breeders of so called Shepherds are AKC Shepherds, not German Shepherds. Clue: If you paid $500 for your dog, you are getting a $500 dog, enjoy the vet...

Scott, do you have pictures of your dog? Just curious.
