just happened to have someone that said they would take a bite no big thing. they were supposed to hide in the dead end alley but chickened out and i had to send the decoy back in. he forgot to throw boxes at the dog. dog near knowcked him on his butt and he grabbed the wall to keep from falling over. no contest - dog wins;

 

Dog wins what, the puppy sleeve? With all of the critical comments you make and this is what you bring out. Just what I thought.

I don't know what you want to do with your dog, or what is your reason for training bitework (sport or PP), but you should examine what your dog does with the sleeve after he "wins" it from the decoy.     Your dog is channeling his drive into the sleeve, without regard to the decoy, which if you're thinking PP is not a good thing.    If you're doing sport then it's not so critical, but regardless I would be not letting the dog become so manic about the sleeve when he gets it.     I would be calming the dog - holding his head up by cradling under the collar and slowly petting his sides -  not letting him shake the sleeve, and making the dog release and re-direct to the decoy.     This takes some experience for both the handler and the decoy, which you can't get by just reading on the net - working with experienced people is the only way to fully realize what people are talking about.

Koots, you are right, but VK is training on his own, nobody telling him what to do. That said, his dog is a good dog, let VK just play around, it´s fun for him and for the dog. Remembers me about my own youth, trying a lot, doing a lot of nonsense, but learning all the time.

Thanx Susie your def one of my faves. always so fair and nice to everyone. Too many post promotional style material. Clip just happened in a kind of spontaneous opportunity for my dog to have some fun so i took it.

I just don't seem to recall him ever taking any of the good advice he's been offered by some very experienced dogmen. And then as often as not, it is refused in not such a good way. JMHO

And I don't think he is doing this to "play" around. His business is providing protection with dogs. At least, I think that was what I have read.
