Anyone know what sort of grass it is where the WUSV tracking phase will be taking place. is it the type of grass that will lie flat or the type that springs back when walked on. Looking at the Pic,s it seems to be a fairly easy track for the Dogs

If that is the case it will be an easy tracking field. i would think they would have got something which tested the dogs a little more. There is nothing like a dry hard heavy ploughed up field with the stumps of vegetation on it and specially where Rabbits are with there dropping etc; That would really get them sorted out? because if any dog fails to get a high score on the Tracking it is all over

↵↵Today a news update
http://wusv2013.org/asp/tracking.aspx
Is the weather that bad or is there a lot of rain ?
Competitors, please be prepared for a transfer of your dogs to a four wheel vehicle for the trip to the tracking fields.
You may want to practice for this.
Each vehicle we use will be able to comfortably accommodate 3 dogs and their handlers. Weather conditions may require this.

So, you will be expected to crate your dog next to some strange dog for a trip of indeterminate length? I am assuming they will have crates available.
It appears to be raining 'a bit' -- the green blob of rain is moving north.

Well i do not know about 4 wheel vehicles. As far as i know and this is the Belgian team; They will Hire vans to accomodate there Dogs and the Boxes will be the same ones as the Dogs will be Travelling in from Belgium and back home again. This is what they did when they went to Sevilla in Spain, Well the ones which went by Air did. The Hire Van was ready at the Airport they landed in and the Dogs stayed in the Crate they travelled in. so i guess the same will happen in Philly. they say the Tracking Fields are mostly flat, and if the grass is 4 to 6 inches high with a lot of rain it could become a bit water logged. that will be a good test better than a flat dry course.

Vans here are not 4-wheel drive. It sounds like the tracks may need to be accessed by 4-wheel drives.

Vans are not 4 wheel drive over here or were they in Spain, the Vans used there were Citroen Belingo Vans. However the Teams from other countries and perhaps from your own country will need a Van or such to carry the Dogs about in from the Airport to the Hotels and then to the Venue and to any private Training Tracking they may do. Always a huge cost for the competitors. This will already have been arranged prior to leaving in the case of the Belgian Team i am certain of that.

Philly has been very dry (no rain for the past 3 to 4 weeks). Monday was the first rain and then dry for two days. Rain started again this morning and will continue throughout the day and thru weekend. Periods of rain on and off predicted next week. We have had probably the best tracking condition in years this spring and summer and plenty of rain resulting in green fields. Conditions were getting a bit dry but with the rain starting this week, should improve again.
It is getting very exciting in our area as the competitors begin to arrive. Last night I met Chris from the USA team as he stopped by our training group at Jim Hill's. A member from Turkey trained with us as well, so I had the honor of meeting and watching two competitors train. Of course I am lucky as i get to train with Jim Hill at least 2x per week, so have been training with a USA team member all along.
I was a bit intimidated to train my dog in front of them, but they were both great and supportive of everyone. Chris even brought out his older dog and spent time working with a new helper in training. How awesome is that!
Very much looking forward to seeing all these competitors and cheering them all on for a very successful event!

Hi Cheryl
You are a lucky Girl to be able to watch and work your dog among some of the competitors. I expect if that venue is local a great many of the Guys competing will do some training there so take full advantage of it and do ,not be shy to ask them for tips etc. All the Belgians speak good English if they come to train there. Enjoy it and there is no need to be shy what i have found they are just dog people who have that bit of talent to get there dogs to that standard but really are just the same as you and me.
