Argument comes on the hands of a found Malinois puppy in the countryside of California that obviously has both ear tips bit off. Certain dog trainers of fluffy dogs are claiming this is a breeder/import marking.

Never heard of it, and myself and friends have imported quite a few dogs. Not to mention many European countries have now banned both docking and cropping, I can't see them OK'ing this as a means of identification. Chances are better the pups ears were injured at some point, or someone here in the US did it thinking it would make the dog "cool". IE they may have thought it was a "thing" to indicate imported dogs, or someone told them it was common in the breed, etc. I remember years ago there was someone in Oregon breeding Malinois and docking all their tails. When asked why he said "all working Malinois have their tails docked". Because he'd seen a bomb dog with a docked tail. Umm, yeah. No.
