Ok..I'm looking for constructive info on these two breeders.
I'll be looking for a pup once my house construction is complete (mid july!)and I recover from a minor back injury (pulled muscle).
I'm looking for a pup that we may be able to Sch1 or possible agility train. We know what it takes to have a dog with working drive in our house as a pet and the dog will be worked, probably not to a high level of competition though. Obedience training is a must!
I'm looking into a bunch of breeders and have found myself going back to two in particular. Dean Calderon and Bill Kulla.
Can anyone who has experience getting a pup from them tell me pros and cons (if any) of using these breeders?
I haven't had to purchase a GSD in 10 years, as we just lost ours recently. My head is so spinning with all the food recalls and such, that I'm starting to find it all a bit overwhelming. I really want to make a good choice for a breeder.
I'm really impressed by what I see on both of these breeders pages and especially with DNA scores on these dogs.
I'm also aware that no matter how good a breed pair seems that breeders cannot completely control the possibility of hip dysplasia, only limit the possibility.
I applaud breeders who seek to breed on the basis of improving the structure and temperment of the breed, not just for pretty puppies!

Have not purchased dogs from either of them but bred to Bill's dog Kway last year.. both Bill and Jen were absolutely a dream to deal with. They took our girl home from the Nationals in Alabama with them, took the best care of her and I picked her up a week later.
I am confident in them.
I don't know Dean and Karla and neither have I ever spoken to them but they sure have some nice breedings going on.. they spark my interest all the time.
My best friend has spoken to him about different breedings now and again...
You could also take a look at my and my partners website.. www.ausdemtraumblick.com
My husband is one of "the GSD agility folks".. as a matter of fact he is at the AKC World Team tryouts this weekend in Minnesota and has the only GSD there!!
We have placed several pups in agility homes, there's actually a lady in Illinois who has a pup from a recent litter.
I'm not trying to confuse you, just give you more information ..
and yes, I too would like to know what you meant bey "especially with DNA scores on these dogs"

You can't go wrong with Dean and Karla. I got my all time favorite dog Onyx from Dean, who picked him for me from a litter he saw in Germny before he was breeding many dogs himself. No one knows temperament any better!

If you are looking for a Sch prospect. I would highly suggest making contact with a local Sch club or someone who is very experienced in Sch and asking (maybe paying) them to go along and evaluate the puppy. It will be well worth it to have very experienced eyes on the situation. A long time dog-sport person is going to see a lot of things that someone less experienced will miss.
Sometimes the heart clouds the judgement when you see all those beautiful puppies.
