I'm reading everything I can about raw food diets and know that is the way I want to go. However, I must consider a "pre-packaged" type of food for right now. I have looked into a few brands and am looking for opinions on these brands. I can't diy raw diet at this time, but think these may be good alternatives. The prepackaged brands are Primal, Companion and Aunt Jennies. The other alternative is The Honest Kitchen for dehydrated food, but I see most of their products contain some kind of grain. What do you all think?

Honest Kitchen Force and Embark are grain free.

Nature's variety also has a grain free kibble as well as raw frozen and freeze dried.

I am a distributor for Oma's Pride and Healthy Pet Products.. have many happy healthy pets and manymore happy owners!!

Not sure about Innova..the large breed puppy food does contain grain. I see that the regular puppy food does have brown rice in it, but it is different then the large breed type. I'm leaning towards Nature's variety since I can get it locally and it's a 95 % meat/5% veggie product. I'm going to look at Oma's Pride as well. I want something easy for me to handle while the dog is a puppy and I can continue to work with my vet (she's great and is into RAW as well!) to figure out the best raw plan for my pup. BTW...no pup yet...still researching everything...food/breeders/training etc. So much to do, I want to start off right. Thanks everyone!

Have you looked at K9 Kraving, a prepackaged raw food? I have recently switched all of my dogs over to it and they are doing very well on it.

I feed my young male Innova EVO RF, and it is grain free with 52% protein, the highest protein content I've found in kibble thus far. Raw diets are great but if it's out of your reach you could feed a quality kibble and supplement with chicken necks, backs, etc. I support people who feed raw but it's not always a good fit for your lifestyle if you travel with your dog. My husband and I are avid backpackers and naturally our GSD hits the trail with us. The more remote the wilderness area, the better. It's impossible for us to keep raw food fresh for a week in the wilderness. Explore all the options, and find a quality food that fits your lifestyle and your budget. Yvette

Heartbroken, Your in IL right? Who is the vet you use that is also a raw feeder?

We have a young puppy, nearly 4 months old. We have been feeding him a raw/barf diet since we got him. This is our 1st raw feeding dog. We thought it was going to be rough to get used to, but it is really easier than you think and it is not that rough on the time if you only have one or two dogs. My wife usually feeds the pup after our meals and before I get the dishwasher loaded, the pup is chowing down. If you have a freezer and can buy in bulk then it is even more cost efficient.
