Got this via email this afternoon!
4/25/07
TO: The GSDCA Membership
As President of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America, Inc., I am taking this opportunity to bring the members of the GSDCA up to date on action the Board is taking concerning Mr. Andrew Hunte's application to membership. I am pleased to announce that Mr. Hunte has agreed to withdraw his application for membership in the GSDCA. The Board is working very hard to finalize the terms and conditions under which his application will be withdrawn. Until this work is done there will be no further hearings on his application.
Thank you,
Lew
Lew Bunch, GSDCA President

Wow! Think the backlash was being felt?

Kudos to the GSDCA for walking the walk. Now we who have complained bitterly about Hunte's being accepted as a member should now log on to the GSDCA.ORG site and thank Lew Bunch and the rest of the Board. In fact I think I'm going to renew my membership today.

"The Board is working very hard to finalize the terms and conditions under which his application will be withdrawn."
This is a short term victory. Yes, the membership won the battle, but the war isn't over. They will use wording that leaves the door open for a future application. (When things settle down and it can be introduced after more allies can be gained.)

Spook at least they have heard the membership and are at least trying to comply with their wishes. I don't know how the SV would handle such a problem, but I can tell you that many AKC breed clubs would simply ignore their members and take the path of least resistance allowing Hunte membership.
Refusing memberhip in an AKC sanctioned dog club is a slippery slope that can easily result in an expensive lawsuit.

The SV has the American GSD owner by the short hairs. They don't really care what we think as long as they continue to profit from us. The AKC is quite another issue; the American membership does have limited power.
