I rescued a female ,orphaned puppy a year ago. I have a few questions. She was rejected by her mother and I rescued her very young and raised her. Now she is a year old and I am thinking to the future as to whether or not I will breed her. She has a nice pedigree and prelim hips and elbows are "a" normal. Of course she needs to meet the usual requirements. That being said , I am pondering many comments from well meaning people who say she should never be bred because of her mother rejecting her and she would not be a good mom. I really don't believe that is the case but realize it could be. I wonder if any of you have experience or advice regarding this?
Also she still does submissive peeing on occasion. Seems old to me to do that. Why?
Thank you

Myself I would not breed her because of the submissive peeing.
I never had a rejected puppy live so can't help you on that one. Have been several posts on that subject that you can go back and read.

gsdlvr2 would seem that her temperament or stability would be in question with the submissive peeing. I would not be interested in breeding a female that continued with that behavior for much longer. JMO

Not every dog has to be bred, even with top pedigree. Some dogs fill our lives as companions.
With the peeing, start with your vet (sterile urine analysis) and go from there. If it is behavioral, she is simply submissive to you. Sometimes, working the dog under commands, so she knows she is safe when she is under a command can remedy an involuntary peeing.
Build her confidence.
Good luck.

I'm sorry, I just realized I forgot to mention, the submissive peeing is not to me or other humans, it's on occasion when she is paricularly excited and it is to more dominant dogs. Sorry for the confusion. Is this still a bad thing in considering her for breeding?

Yes, I'd still have to say pass on breeding this one. Love her, enjoy her, train her - you'll have a long and rewarding relationship with her.
If you are determined to breed, why not look for another female that doesn't have any issues, or baggage from puppyhood?

To me it is still unsuitable for breeding.

Pass on the breeding.
