Can I find a GSD like this?,any suggestions?prefer classic saddle type,straight back.Looking for another S.A.R. dog.

Fireman, be it puppy or adult I think the total sum of what your looking for is "Confident" high drive, Yes ?? If I am correct, Yes those dogs are out there, You just have to find him/her. Harder to tell with a pup, but not impossible. You sound experienced, I noticed you said "another" in your post. Good Luck with your search and hope your able to find a dandy new partner.

Thank you EchoMeadows,I'll keep you posted.Confident, high drive, yes, and problem solving ability.Always working scenting scenarios.I prefer to start encouraging tugging on a sock at 7-8 weeks, or ASAP.(pup always wins at his favorite game).I believe the most enthusiastic tugger among wolf pups gets the most food. Chasing down prey is the next lesson.

I guess beyond what you already know, and you probably know this too, but will mention it anyway. Go and see what your looking into, meet the people, meet the dogs, and do your own assessments. You sound like you've done this many times before and I really like your analysis in some of your other posts as well. Keep in touch and let me know if there is anything I can do, would be glad to help you if I can.

This drivey alpha-female I formerly owned produced very intelligent pups for me, some working in SAR. She's a saddle back, strait backed. She'll probably be bred around June at this kennel: http://liberatoreshepherds.com/Ema%20Orechova%20Cesta.htm

My last litter of pups were all pretty much equal in having high prey drive and we worked all six pups together until they were about 14 weeks old. The one pup who was the best at scentwork had a very high food drive and loved tracking and by the third training session it was oblivious she was progressing faster than the others. I have posted a short video on here before as she (and the others) were very bold which showed in their confidence in taking the lead and searching out front. But she did have the highest food drive which is something to look for in the earliest training stage. On the plus side she is not food aggressive towards others although I did have to use the closed fist method to keep her from taking my hand off.
