GSD history had Odin Stozenfels head to head against Pfeffer von Bern for the Sieger title...
Odin being sable lost to the black and red Pfeffer
Guess what Pfeffer V. Bern was German born but grew up it the U.S. in Hoheluft Kennels
Went back to Germany and won as Sieger but the Germans did not use him... The have some other type in mind...
One Classic story on the Start of the GREAT Division between Working and Show lines...

Marci,
I find this bit of history very interesting! It's all about vision isn't it? Mine vs. yours? Why not just toss a coin to determine the outcome, because what is being argued about in the end, (tie breaker so to speak), is then based only on aesthetics, which are always subjective.
Glad to know you're not just all about the bite! ;-)

Regardind the working/show divide,I had a dog, sire line Quax Ahauser Shloss- Quando/Pischa,dam line Igor Stolzenfels -Bodo Grafental(DDR).Had Palme looks and was just as happy working a rubble pile,SAR tracking trailing or bite work on the schutzhund field.(she died of lung cancer, another WTC 911 victim) Now I'd like another dog like her,and see that I run into this divide, that GSD's that resemble her in appearance, probably can't work like her. What's up with that?

Hi Fireman,
I have Ulrik V Stolzenfels here. You need to contact Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation (Vom Stolzenfels) and if you are still into SAR, they would probably donate another dog. They are in Windsor, CT. Speak to Ms Robbie Kaman.
Fidelco (Stolzenfels) uses primarily old DDR Lines dating back to Bodo v Grafental.
