Curious why most ads do not list the location and (asking) price of the dog being offered for sale. Wouldn't this information aid in matching sellers with prospective buyers?

sure it would

I'm not going to answer anymore ads with no price. If I inquire about a dog and it turns out the price is more than I can afford or am willing to pay, then I'm accused of being a tire kicker. Why not just give all pertinent information in the ad so I don't end up wasting the seller's time?

i HANE NEVER IN MY LIFE SEEN SO MANY ADULT DOGS FOR SALE .. LET ALONE PUPS -- WHAT I HAVE FOUND ... FIRST IF THE GSD IS SO IMPORTANT AND SUCH A GREAT DOG/ THEN WHY IS ANY SERIOUS SELLER SIMPLY SELLING THE DOG -- REMINDS ME OF AUTO'S -- GENERALLY BUYING A USED CAR IN REALITY IS JUST BUYING SOMEONE LESES PROBLEM . SECONDLY , IT IS NOT WHAT THEY ARE SAYING ABOUT THE DOG FOR SALE ALONE BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY IS WHAT THEY ARE NOT SAYING[ THAT IS MOST SELLERS ARE NOT 100% UPFRONT ABOUT THE TRUE REASON FOR THE SALE . SUCH AS ..IT IS A GOOD SHOW DOG --YEAH --THEN WHY AS AN ADULT GOD ARE YOU SELLING IT ?? PERHAPS THEY KNOW IT WQON'T GO ANY FURHTER ..OR PERHAPS THEY KNOW IF YOU BREED IT THERE WILL BE POOR OR POOR HEALTH PROGENY .. NOW WATCH -- MOST PEOPLE HERE WILL BE UP AND ARMS -- BUT YOU KNOW THIERD OF ALL .. THE MI UTE WE MADE GSDs COMMODITIES .. YOU OPENED THE DOOR GOR GREED, CORRUTION AND GRAFT .. IF YOU ARE WELL VERSED YOU WOULD CLERARLY SEE THIS IN THE GSD WORLD

ALPHAPUP, what makes me even sadder is to think how many GSD's in this world are passed around from person to person, some never having a permanent home to call their own. I know people in many different breeds and can honestly say I've not seen or heard of another breed that is wholesaled quite as commercially as is the GSD. It reminds me a lot of the marketing of livestock. Heartbreaking..........

My 3 year old male had 4 different homes before I got him. The last owner also had his littermate who was killed out on the highway because they were let run loose. When a friend called me to say the lady wanted to sell Trigger, he had just been found 5 miles from the owner's house eating a dead deer on the side of the road. I truly believe if I hadn't taken Trigger that day he would have ended up in a shelter or dead. He has turned out to be one of the best dogs I have ever had. I called the lady who owned him last summer and made her cry. She deserved it...
Gotta wonder how many other GSDs are in similar circumstances.

"Gotta wonder how many other GSDs are in similar circumstances."
Sadly its too many..I hate to go look at GSD rescue sites because there are soooo many WELL BRED GSD's that end up there for one reasn or another. Im almost shocked to see the quality dogs that are in there, you can tell they dident come from BYB's, but probably good kennels.
Back to the topic, yeah I think it would be MUCH easier if the sellers listed the price and location, so you dont have to call and ask, find out the dog is too much than you can afford, wasting yours and the sellers time. Like you said triodegirl, Im not even gonna bother with that anymore...But oh well :/

Just one more comment about Trigger. Could actually make for an interesting thread as to reasons people give for selling their adult GSDs. I asked the previous owner the day I called to tell her she had no clue as to what a wonderful dog she had. She told me she decided to get rid of Trigger the day he jumped up on her and scratched her chest. She said he had never jumped up on her before and she wasn't going to tolerate it. Poor dog.
