Hi guys, I have a bitch that has been bred three times now. I did not own her on the first two attempts, but I was told the first time she did not take, and the second time she had them about 10 days early. The lady I bought her from had other dogs do the same thing, and then the next litters were fine, so I figured maybe it was some chemical she used around them, or something. She has been tested for brucellosis, by the way, and is negative. This last time she was in heat, I pallpated her at 35-40 days, and she was definitely pregnant, so I was pretty excited. Well, over the next week or so, I didn't notice her getting a belly, so getting a little concerned, I went ahead and pallpated her again, and sure enough, there was nothing there. I've actually been trying to place her in a pet only home, and the right person hasn't come along, and now she's back in heat, and I thought maybe someone would have an idea on what might help if I was to try one more time. I'm going to do a culture to check for infection, and hormone test, to see if that's the issue. I just thought maybe someone on here had this experience before, and maybe had some suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help! I know it's next to impossible to know the real issue, but I thought someone might just be in the same shoes, and figured it out...

I would definitely try the progesterone testing and do a vaginal culture and sensitivity and include mycoplasma.. is she being tested for brucella when she is in heat?? All these tests need to be done when she is in heat.
Are you doing the palpating??? Takes a really experienced sensitive feel and that is the least accurate method of determining pregnancy now that ultrasound is available and relatively inexpensive ..
Good luck
