what is the earliest age you have breed any of females.
especially the ones from germany who's hips are rated, and may have a sch 1(or close to obtaining it) by the age of 18-19 mths?

by urmangsd on 07 February 2007 - 14:02
uh, Tina, clearwater meant the 3rd heat, not schH 3 title.
by Mosemancr on 07 February 2007 - 14:02
3rd period, which is 3rd heat right? I dont think clearwater menat SchH3 by 3e period. SchH3, I know females that have a 3. My little Ginger vom Fallsview's mother has a 3, Yenti vom Haus Dexel. SchH3 females are bad ass.

so 3rd heat for my female will be in 6 mths.
why is everyone saying wait until she is 2 to mate her.

Tina, this is just my opinion. Even though the S.V. allows breeding to take place after twenty (20) months of age I suggest waiting until two (2) years of age in order for the female to gain more mental maturity. This is at least as important as her physical maturity as she will imprint a lot of herself onto her puppies and they need to see their mother as very confident and nuturing.
Different females are no doubt different as to the earliest age they can become not just a dam, but a good dam. That should also be a guide. With all of that said, however, you really don't know what you have until a litter is present.
