4pack, There are only a few that post here that I have highlighted so that when a subject comes up and there is too much to read I can pull up my favorites. Yours is one of them. I thoroughly enjoy your posts and your reasoning process. I always no that you will bring some good common sense to this board and not ramble as some of us do. Hope you stay.

I don't always agree with you on your opinions 4pack. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, but I will say what I have said on a previous post, "ya gots class", Take care.

4pack is referring to the thread OldNewGuyMC (ONG) posted near the end of this thread http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/79489.html#79614 about "starving, choking, beating, etc.

Not wanting to make war here, but I was in Vietnam during the Tet offensive. And personally I would appreciate a dog taking a bullet for me any day. I love dogs, always have and always will, but I also appreciate that they serve a purpose for mankind. I would much rather it be him then my buddy. I sincerely do not want to side track this thread, nor do I want to be disrespectful to others feelings, but I feel very strongly that a dog serves man, and that is part of what I love about them. ONG, know my heart on this matter, I don't care so much about what others here think, but hope you do. And thanks for serving. I had a young man from our church that returned from Iraq recently thank me for serving. I started crying, I think it was the first time since '68' that I was thanked. Some things sure suck.

olskool: I was in USMC during Vietnam also. I too would rather have had one of our dogs go down than one of our men. Having said that. The dogs served us proud over there but when it came time to leave, most, if not all of the dogs serving over there, were left behind to fend for themselves. They could not be trusted in civilian life back here, possible diseases, expenses to care for them when they were no longer needed, etc, etc. I have no idea how they were treated by the locals after we left. Maybe eaten. Maybe adopted. Maybe tortured, because they were "one of us". How sad, the way we use them to "serve man", and then discard them so. Most were shepherds. I hope things have changed in the military concerning the dogs, after the wars are over. Wouldn't it be funny if aliens from outspace finally did land and introduce themselves and they were "dogs" highly advanced. Wonder if we would be trained to serve them. What an idea for the "Twilight Zone" :)
