Hi everyone, just a quick question please,I purchased a gorgeous 3 year old Ando son 2 weeks ago(even though i swore no more showlines haha)Orpheus Von Der Magistrale and I already have a very high drive unnutered 2 year old male and i have been following Ed Frowley of Leerburg kennels advice of slowly doing things to introduce them but i can see that they try to nonchalontly test the waters still.Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can keep them at bay other than of course ME being the boss at all times. Thanks in advance

Why not just keep them seperate? Why take any chances?

I agree with animules. It's for the best for both dogs to keep them both seperated.

Thanks for your response and yes they are mostly seperate,i only started to introduce them yesterday even though they have played before when they were both younger

You really need to take the advice of amimules, they will sort it out and sometimes this could be very nasty ending in the death of one possibly and you getting hurt. I have two males who have been together Zidane and Blackstar (who has been neutered for years now)
but they are never unsupervised. Neither dog has dog aggression but it is never a good idea with most dogs they are the exception. Zidane was raised with a older male in the backyard of the trainer without incident but I am sure if he was challenged he would fight. Blackstar has never showed aggression as well but I still am very careful and Zidane was here for over a year before they were ever out at the same time. It was a accident then when Blackstar pushed the kitchen door open when I was outside with Zidane and I admit I was scared they wagged their tails at each other and are good buddies but I still do not do this routinely.

OK,i know not to ever leave them unsupervised.Zidane is one of my favourite working line dogs. When i watch his video WOW he's something boy.I got this showline by coincidence cause i always liked him and it seems so unfair that they cant have fun together now and then.I guess i will have to be fun for them both.I really appreciate you all taking the time to respond. Thanks again,Amimules,AlabamaK9 and Brittany

Domenic, I know you will be careful and I understand I like all of my dogs to get along I actually have more problems with my females from past experiences. Thank you for the compliment I love Zidane, he is a nice dog. Marlene

Same here with more fighting among the females than the males....I have noticed the same among my dogs too. lol

We keep them seperate too. The two youngest ones still can play together. None of the rest do though.

Okay, I just have to add my two cents in here. (And I'm ready for the battle!) All this crap about keeping dogs separated in the german shepherd working world drives me crazy. I would advise not to let two mature males together if they haven't been socialized with other dogs ever. BUT, if the dogs have played with other dogs, been around them, and have met before, introduce carefully. Dogs like other dogs and have a different relationship with dogs than humans. Of course, exercise common sense and don't have them together around sources of conflict: balls, toys, breeding females, etc... If you want them to get along, take them for walks (i.e.hunts) together.
Personally, in my experience females will fight to the death but males will work it out.
