My 9 month old female can't extend her hind legs back without it causing pain. When the vet did it ,she cried.Has anyone ever encountered this? Thanks for any help.

Get her hips xrayed...I'd suspect hip dysplasia. Someone I know "prelimb's" her young dogs by extending their legs backwards, she says this won't be uncomfortable/painful in dogs with normal hips. I dunno how accurate it is but I'd definitely get them checked.
I Hope its something else, good luck.

Exactly, first step get some prelims. Any other signs? Favoring one side etc...?

DR,
Read the other post. I have not seen such a problem, but perhaps you have. Jonah
