I was looking at a website today and saw where they sell their longcoat pups for $1250.00 vs the standard coat pups for $1000.00?
Anyone else do this?

Probably not a place I'd buy a puppy from? :p

I would do just the opposite.

Dito! Coats are pretty and make good pets and can work but not eligible for showing... IMO probably should not be used for breeding but some people do breed them. To each their own I guess.

I have never gotten a longhair yet but if I do my plan is to sell it for half price with a spay/neuter contract.
I'd be curious what this advertisers reasoning is behind that logic. If you find out please let us know. To me it makes no sense.

Go here. She breeds longcoats and sells for $1500 a pup.

I also saw the same website (Unless there is more than one like that). I agree with Trailrider and Gsdlvr2, should not be bred and sold for half price. The fact that they are selling them for more than standard coats tells me that they are NOT a good breeder, because they are doing nothing to better the beed. IMO they should not even be allowed to breed GSD, mabey Rough Collies if they like long hair so much.

My first GSD was a coat. He was purchased from an AKC breeder at a reduced price due only to his coat length. They always sold their coats as pets and always at a price several hundred dollars less than the others.

Full coated GSD's help with creating a full lush coat in a standard coated dog. Used correctly, it can greatly improve coat density, and sheen
