Hey everyone, What can I give a 5 month old dog who cannot keep food down. My girl has been throwing up for the past two evenings. She threw four times yesterday and ten times tonight. At first her solid food comes up then its nothing but stomach acid. She also had diarrhea yesterday but that stopped. She is teething and i thought maybe thats what was wrong but I think it might be more. thanks

Are you going to wait for her to throw up blood before taking her to the vet?! Kyle

by ESPINOZA on 12 January 2007 - 06:01

ARE YOU SERIOUS? ARE YOU TRYING TO GET A DIAGNOSIS HERE?? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR...TAKE THE DOG TO THE VET ASAP! IT COULD BE MANY THINGS, FROM PARVO TO ALLERGIES FROM THE CHEAP FOOD YOU ARE FEEDING IT. MR. ESPINOZA }:(

I say the best thing for you to do right now is to go to the emergency vet. or go to your regular vet and get your dog checked out. DO NOT WAIT.

You better bring her in and don't offer her anymore food, just a little water. Let her gut rest until the vet finds out what is wrong.

Hoping that you heeded the suggestions and have had her in to the vet's by now. One of the first things that comes to mind, given your description, is an intestinal blockage...and those are an emergency, hands down, if the dog is to survive.

Take her to the vets right away, you never know what could be wrong with her! Why risk your dogs life? If she throws up ten times there is obviously a problem. Like Espinoza said it could be anything. Hope its nothing serious like parvo or something. Andrea

Hexe, That's exactly what came to my mind as well, Blockage or Twisted intestine. Regardless, No One here can diagnose this dog, She absolutely needs to get to the vet ! Good Luck keep us posted.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. Just to let yall know I am not neglecting my dog. I was at work when she was vomitting and my roomate told me this and I didn't get home until after 10pm. I will be taking her to the vet tomorrow afternoon, when I get out of class. But thanks again. I was not tryin to get a diagnosis, I too know wut the possibilities could be, I was just wondering if there was anything I could put on her stomach tonight so she wouldnt be hungry, but I know now. Thanks
