Being relatively new to issues of bloodlines (good and Bad) I have noticed recently that breeders are pointing out that they have litters that are Ursus free. Is there a problem that has surfaced that can be attributed to his bloodline. Thanks

Ursus produced so many excellent progeny who themselves produced well that we have reached a considerable bottleneck in the breed. German judges have made a concerted effort in recent years to place representatives of other lines. A female that is Ursus free might have more breeding choices since many of the top males are Ursus sons and grandsons. That being said, there are many choices available, and close up linebreeding to Ursus is quite popular and has not revealed the problems that we saw with linebreeding to Palme. Ursus has produced improvement of bone and mass as well as excellent heads and masculinity in males, sound temperament and working ability together with better than average hips and good overall health. Best Wishes, Jonah

Nothing against URSUS, but for one thing, the market is flooded. Nobody wants the same thing over and over. Sorry Ursus fans ,I like him, great dog but enough already , many good blood lines to choose from. I have heard comments about genetics on Ursus , pluses and minuses, on that I don't know.
