Be aware that signature k-9 aluminum crates leak! And they feel that it is the buyers responsibility. I bought 2 crates and urine leaked into my trucks carpet, and there was no literature stating they would leak! They told me that everyone on the market does, I found out this was a lie.. Ray allen laughed at this! Signature k-9 was a very unprofessional company.

I prefer Vari-Kennel. High density plastic with no corners to trap debris. The best model knocks down with plastic twist locks and has plastic coated wire (door and vents).

All my crates are the plastic/fiberglass type, some from Germany some from USA have not had any leaks. Those aluminum crates are very pricey at that so now there are 2 reasons to avoid them leakey and pricey.

I like the Ray Allen Ram crates. never a problem

There are custom made, excellent crates available that are solid and do not leak. I think one must look carefully at what they buy. For some dogs, plastic Vari-kennels will suffice. For other dogs, a solid aluminum crate is better, but there are aluminum crates and then there are aluminum crates made by master craftsmen. One gets what one pays for in crates as in all other commodities. And yes, the best made aluminum crates are expensive because the metal is expensive and the time to construct them is time-consuming. Like Echo says, how did it come that the dog was left in the crate long enough to urinate? That was the mistake......and it is ALWAYS a good idea to protect vehicle or house carpet or surfaces when one has dogs. There are products that will likely clean the carpet. Or, a more put in new carpet. You can easily seal any cracks in the crates you bought with a sealant. Good luck.

Yes they are pricey but for some dogs you need them. I have a male GSD that chews on the crates from the inside. I worked a Mal that could chew his way out of the Vari kennels in a short period of time, and we are talking through the side not the door. So they do have there place. Try Castle K-9 out of PA They have there K-9 Gaurdian line less expensive than Ray Allen but very good quality.

Oh come now EchoMeadows... You have never had a dog piss in its crate overnight now & then? How many miles have you logged with dogs? LOL

Hauling pups??? Mistake?? Did you just get your first dog yesterday? Dogs urinate? And they even do it in there crates occasionally, it was a police dog? It happens.Guess what they throw up too and if it was watery enough it would leak through too. Or even if the dog is wet. It was FYI... No, plastic is not suitable for all dogs.

Hodie, Thank You, that's pretty much what I was getting at, and ummm NO MY DOGS HAVE NEVER PEED IN THE CRATE ! I don't let them live in crates sorry for that... We haul to sch. 45 min away on Saturday's and 20 minutes on Thursday's, Monday's are usually pretty local. Disturbing was when I hauled to Salem 5 hours stopped 3 times for potty breaks no dogs would go potty, we ran, we sat, we walked, we went to grass, brush, and gravel, Still no potty. I was getting very worried, But when I got to my destination still NO MESS IN CRATES !!! And one was 10 wk old puppy. Egsd, what is up with you ? You don't like me very much, I think. Shelly to answer your question NO. Never Overnighted a dog in a crate all night, if am crate training a pup will be up 4 times during the night for potty trips. Over night all night long you must be kidding, That's not right you guys ! Not one single dog I have ever hauled in a crate has potty'd in the crate, I manage a shelter so have hauled more than I care to admit. Puppies are differnt story, very young one puppy did potty in a 3 hour transport.
