7 month 3 week old sedated female
clarity isnt the best, film was still wet, vet held it up to the box and I snapped a couple of pics with my cell. That thin line in the r side is a hair.

Honestly, the positioning is so crooked, it's hard to know much for sure. I think the heads of the femurs look well rounded and well-seated, but I'm far from sure.
Check out this article on how positioning affects the x-rays: http://leerburg.com/hipart.htm

Where's the bottom of the x ray? We need to see the knees.

not that it will make a difference, it's bad positioning

I agree with bad positioning. However, the heads of the femurs look well rounded and well seated. I would say OFA Good or German "a" normal.

bad positioning. the legs are no where near parallel. and yes ideally the nears should be in the picture too

Holy cow!!! Sorry to say, this is about the most poorly positioned hip xray I've ever seen. My best guess is the dog has good hips. The SV and the OFA would never accept this xray as diagnostic. Before you are ready to have her done again, do your homework and find a vet who can do a decent xray. This one truly is horrible. Where do you live, LeNore, maybe someone here can give you a reference to another vet. If she was sedated, this vet should have done a MUCH better xray.

I know the positioning isnt that good, my main reason for the prelim was to check and see if there was any HD in the works that would prevent her from training and possibly titling, even if in OB. This vet told me he did not guarentee the xrays, he seldom does them except to diagnose injury. I was hoping these would be good enough to at least rule out serious problems so that there would at least be a chance of training. I would really not like to spend 12-18 months training just to find the dog I trained had serious hip problems. How long do you suggest I wait to do another set? 8 months would put us midway of eligibility for OFA.

Make your vet take another xray no charge

I think thay are good enough to rule out serious HD. However, they are certainly not good enough to identify a mild to moderate case in a 7 1/2 month old puppy. If this were my dog, I'd probably do her again in 6 months, but would find another vet.
