When walking with my young dog his nose is always down and he "snuffles"when he's really interested in things. That is the only word I can use for it.  It's almost like a snoring sound has anyone ever heard this and can anyone EXPLAIN it???

Second question, I like that he's smelling and following, etc., but am concerned that it may give him a sense of sniffing whatever he wants when he starts an actual track.  Is that likely? Or is it a case of being able to switch between a heel at a walk and a release on a walk?

Input please.
