Greeting's all.  I've recieved some positive comments on the way I practice my in motion excersises and thought I'd share.  If anyone has any "outside the 'ole routine" way of doing OB please share as well.

Thats great GSDfan, I enjoyed that.   Nice lookin animal.

Very nice. Just a couple of suggestions. I notice that your dog tends to favor your right side when coming into you and that you always whip out the tug (reward behind your back) using your right hand. If you want to train this way, use alternate hands so that the dog will not favor one side. The other suggestion: when you carry the tug under your arm while heeling, try carrying it under your left arm as opposed to your right.

Hi nice work and a very good way to teach the positions on the move.

Noticed the same as Louise and think that is because you move and bring the reward into site before releasing the dog from the behaviour.  The dog is anticipating the release and presentation of the reward.  Not easy to do (a big fault of mine) but I try to be aware of this and give the release command before reaching for the reward.

Sorry to be so picky on what is very nice work.

I would be very proud if my dog worked like that !!     Anyone know where I can locate the Ivan Balabanov's training vids - Cheers Mo

Mo,

Try Amazon or direct from Ivan's web site.  Can't stop watching mine but someone else got them for me so can't be any more help than that.

Thanks everyone.

About him favoring the one side.  Actually, I  usually use a training vest and put the tug in the back pockets and also a ball release in the front, so my hands are free, reward source changes and he doesn't usually cheat like that.   The vest was dirty and I didn't want to wear it for making the video.  When I don't use the vest I usually put the tug in the rear waist band...but too many clothes:-)

I appreciate the input thought...thanks for helping, my ears are always open.

Regards,

Melanie
