Unterfranken/Bayern? - Page 1

I am looking for someone with dog experience (or a trainer)  in Bayern Germany. I need someone to help my dog learn to meet other calm, friendly dogs in a calm situation. He is 13 months old, gentle, good-natured, friendly to people, but he needs to learn to be more calm meeting other dogs. He is not an aggressive dog, but he sometimes barks when he sees another dog and pulls on the leash-- a danger as I am a little handicapped. When a dog off-leash runs to him, he plays... and forgets I am there. Again, a danger for me, as I have problems walking. Anyone know someone in Bavaria who can help?

yes, I am sure a lot of people looked and did not know what to reply. You are located in Germany and you are asking here to find help to train your dog? In Germany, almost every little town has a dog training club. Even if you do not wish to do Schutzhund, they will be happy to help you with your dog. Maybe not every club, but a lot of them offer it to any dog (pet) owners under the motto of the "Augsburg Modell".

You can either contact the SV in Augsburg under www.schaeferhunde.de or better, join one of the German forums for advice. Pretty much all German workingline people, including the top national and world competitors are members of www.schaeferhund.net and the showline people are to be found at www.dsh-biz.de . Some people, like me are members of both. Both forums are managed by the same person(s) Duerken and Uwe, and the forums are a wealth of knowledge. Although they are in German language only, they do have an English section. I bet you if you post your request there, you will have responses from people directly in your area in Unterfranken.
