besides health issues, on a scale of 1-10...what would you consider to be the worst faults?
white patches/light pigments/ washed out colors....
lighter eyes...
white...
LC...
flat-footed...easty-westy....cowhocked....etc..
ear size, placement...
or any other faults you can think of.....
what quality, besides tempermant/ health/ work.....is most important to you? pigment..color...bone structure, top-line, feet, leg placement...etc...
<<<-----just cause they're here now...

hummm...is this a stupid question(s)?
im curious about this because, i guess boss's main/ most pronounced fault, look wise, is that he has light-brown eyes instaed of the darker chocolate color, even tho he has very dark pigment in his coat.....how big of a fault is that? is that even a fault, because his eyes are brown, just a lighter brown?....wouldn't something like bone structure be more important than something like eye color or pigment?

Color I will not really fault unless it is like a very large white patch bordering on "Panda"
I would LOVE to SEE a REAL DARK Black and Burgandy Sable on a VA or Sieger/in
Quality Stucture movement and Type GSD.
Like the Hard Working Dog line colors!
( because the standard is Strong Rich also Dark)
interpret that the way you like, but the wording was not to have all dogs be Red with black saddles.
While I do preffer Dark, near Black eyes, and love the Black/Reds saddle it is not the original
wording in the standard. I mean take it to extreme and the wording could be taken to mean that
solid black with black eyes is the best Color. But hey those are pretty color wise as well.

Boss is a sable, just around or a little over a year old? His eyes will most likely continue to darken a little more.

IMO, one of the greatest faults in modern day German Shepherds is weak nerve.

dcw, i would agree with you, but I think she meant other than temperament issues, I guess I would say correct structure to me is more important because it ties more directly into workability.

sue--- thanks......he is about 9 months now, i thought if they hadn't darkened by now then they never would...guess he still has time then huh?
von sym...yup, thats what i was asking...and thats what i was thinkin also..>>I guess I would say correct structure to me is more important because it ties more directly into workability.

Love My GSD,
as far as I remember, eyes are preffered as dark as possible, but I can't recal
if the standard said that lighter eyes were a " Fault" just " not desired"
faults and prefered caracteristics are two diferent things,
faults being worst.
Are you knew? to GSDs?
dcw,
explain to me please exactly what you want to say,
what does soft nerve to affect a dog's working ability at what tasks?
( I am asking because I have no real knowledge on advanced working caracteristics)
What are the consequnces of a weak nerve dog in the ShH trial or
when aprehending a suspect in law enforcement?
Where did the "weak" nerve come from? ( where do you think or know it came from?)

He's just 9 months? Oh yeah, still got lots of time for them to darken.
