Hi,
I'd like to hear comments on toxic vs healthy toys. Specifically looking for owners who've had issues with any type of toy found in mainstream stores. A recent article in Consumer Affairs revealed small amounts of lead, cadmium and chromium were contained in two Wal-Mart toys that were tested. The metals were freely released with licking. The vast majority of dog toys are made in China, but U.S.-made toys are not necessarily safer. Thanks....

I refuse to buy any dog toys made in China.

Is that based on the pet food recalls? The problem seems to be--and I've been looking into this for awhile--it is VERY hard to find toys that aren't somehow outsourced to China. How do you pick your toys?

Vox, I would personally say it has more to do with the childrens' toys with toxins in them that came from China than the pet food recall, but that is just me...

We do not buy any dog treats made in China. We've realized pieces of raw carrot and boiled skinless boneless chicken breast cut into cubes works fine. For bones we give them raw tureky nexks and knuckle bones. I'm as careful when it comes to their food and toys as our own.
