I know it's a broad question, but if you sent your dog to a trainer, to get a bh,ad & conformation rating(shes 1)What you expect to pay? Just a general amount ,would be great. Thanks

Pay by the title, not by the month.

I've heard for a Bh $500.00 but then I've also heard another who paid $1,000. Just depends on who you send the dog to and how well their training was done prior to sending them. Obviously if they are just fine tuning the dog and putting the title on for you it won't cost as much as a dog that needs more work to get it to the level it needs to be to earn the title. I'd just be careful who you send your dog to, if you send the dog to the wrong person it could cause you more damage than good. If this is something you're seriously considering I'd ask around to the more experienced GSD people to see who they'd recommend.

I did ask on board before, I got alot of good & one not so good, but i've called all refrences provided & so far so good. my female has not been trained for any of these things bh/ad conf. show, so I'm looking at a little bit of time & money, which is ok, i was just wondering how long it could take & cost. She has basic/advance o.b. training thats all.

Good heavens why on earth would anyone want to send a dog to a trainer to get a BH and/or an AD?
If an owner/handler cannot manage these very elementary qualifications themselves perhaps they should be looking after koi carp!

Well are you nice !!! Did you ever think maybe i'm a loving, caring & responsible owner, & since i've never done this I would like it done correct and my girl to have proper training. Also I have 4 other dogs, 2 horses, 3 cats, 2 ferrets & a very busy 11 tr old son, and i also run two(not one)trucking companys, so I could not do her justice with the time I have !!!!!!!!!

Training a dog to a BH takes a lot of time if you are expecting someone to actually train your dog, and not just slam a title on them by beating them into the work.
I have seen people adverstise for $500.00 too, there is no way in hell I would expect this to be good training for a BH. I am only working on my second dog, but the amount of time and effort it takes can not be done in only 1 month. Of course everything will be dependent on what they dog has had already. If the dog is green with hardly anything, I would expect to pay $2k at least for the BH if not more, SchH1 that is more like $5k for what I would expect the type of training my dog were to receive.
I am not interested in slapped on titles shown under less than worthy judges, I hear this is quite likely as well. But that is just me.

Thank you KariM, I was told it would be a few months to do it the right way, she isn't green, she has had basic & advance o.b., Im the one who is green. I do not want an unearned title for her, thats why I was asking so I would have an idea if the person I spoke with was right. Thank you for the info.

You are doing this to get her Breed Survey?

by venzosmom on 13 September 2007 - 00:09
Sueincc, I would like her to do/earn what she can,she has good lines, right now I've been so busy & she is better then what shes doing right now, we went through basic & advance o.b. she loved it, I just want to do right by her & since I've never done this, but I think she can, I'd just like to see how far she could go. I hope that explains it(lol) katie
