HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO GET A B.H IF YOU DO IT YOURSELF AND CAN A DOG FAIL A B.H BECAUSE OF THE OWNER DOING IT THEMSELVES ,IN OTHERWORDS WHAT WOULD THE TRAINER/ OWNER NEED TO DO AND KNOW AND WHAT DOES THE DOG NEED TO DO OR NOT DO? IS THERE ANY VIDEOS ON TRAINING TO B.H?

You have to memorize the entire BH routine. I don't think the judge tells you what to do through out the entire trial. I'm getting my dogs bh, I hope, this fall. And I think your dog can faila BH because of it's owner. Also, before you do the actual routine, the owner has to take, and pass, a written test. And there are a few BH videos out there you can buy. You might be able to find a decent clip on youtube. I hope I was atleast a little help.

as far as how much it costs to do it yourself, it's basically the cost of the trial entry (if you already have the scorebook etc). This can be anywhere from 35.00 to I've seen it at about 60.00 before I think. You might do well to find a local club or at least someone that has put one on a dog before to walk you through it at least once. A dog can fail because of the handler, or the dog. Lots of things can happen. MOST judges are looking that the dog is paying attention to you and following basic commands, (during the pattern of course) and that the dog has a good temperment. After all, that's what the BH is mostly about...it's a temperment test. You will (at least for schutzhund USA) take a written safety test (I believe you can get a sample from the organization website www.germanshepherddog.com), do the BH obedience pattern on and off leash. And then also have a temperment test. Rules have changed a few times over the years and I can't remember what all is part of that but generally I've seen them do things like test your dogs reaction to a neutral dog walking by, reaction to walking through a crowd of people, a car horn honking while you walk around the car, a bicyclist, and a jogger. first place to start would probably be to get a scorebook, find a trial to enter, check out a sample safety test, and then look at the pattern and memorize. When I've worked with newbie club members we always have them walk the pattern several times without the dog. One thing that helped me as a newbie was to have someone walk the pattern with me "as the dog". Sure taught me alot about how my footwork and the smoothness of my speed changes etc affects the dog! hope this helps some! It's fun!

I hope he has paid his dues first to USA for his memborship   ....Dont you have to belong to USA before you get a scorebook?? If he doesnt know what BH is , he may not belong.....that comes first....then the club can show you...you dont have to belong to a club, but you do have to pay the membership dues to USA.....and get a rule book....and you get a magazine and the BH articles can be in there also....

Rules havae changed since I belonged and the rules change sllightly every so often  Now you can do each one seperate,,When I joined , years ago , The Bh was first and then you had to do the whole kit an kabootle   or fail SchH 1....now doing it in portions is great I think.

Very good link animules.

The only thing that I noticed in it is that there are no longer gunshots during the BH Routine.
