Registering with USA/SV - Page 1

Does a person have to register their import with AKC first before registering with the USA/SV?

Not necessarily. If your import is presently registered with an FCI approved registry you do not have to register with AKC. Current member countries are at this link: http://www.fci.be/members.asp?lang=en&sel=1

The Canadian Kennel Club had been suspended from membership for a short while but, though still sanctioned, pedigrees issued by CKC are being accepted again as of March 2007 per FCI Circular 33/2007.

My own dog is a Canadian import whose CKC pedigree was submitted to the SV via USCA and entered into the SV Zuchtbuch. You have to send the original pedigree to the USCA office (scary, scary!) and youo'll eventually get it back with a stamp and signature by an SV official affixed to it. Mine only took 6 weeks. I've heard of it taking a year or more.

And which excuse are they giving you? Busy with the Sieger Show? With Nationals? Just plain too busy? Held up in Germany? Can't find a translator?

No, they aren't blowing me off.  There truly was something lost in translation & it's being delt with.  I have patience & trust UScA. 

  There are two USA registries:  the USA/SV dual registry, which is subject to the vagaries of the SV and often experiences lenghthy time lapses, and the USA-alone registry.  The USA alone registry had to, essentially, be scrapped last year, when members discovered that it was simply a re-cycled USRC (rottie) registry program, complete with rotte references and NO place to note color (because the rotties are all the same distinctive color).  The "contract" was  never put out for bids and ended up with a member of the then- prez's club, who also happened to have been the USRC registrar at one time and what USA got for thousands of $$$$s was a re-cycled USRC program.    That was sent back for re-tooling at the GBM.    Members of USA volunteered their programing and computer services to create a new registry program and database.   It is expected that the paperwork in that registry will begin to be sent to members in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the explanation, Nia.  In my case, I'm waiting for USA/SV dual registry and in fact the hold up is  with the SV not UScA, but it's all being straightened out and I am sure I'll have it in hand eventually!
