God bless whoever recommended this tool. I know it was several different posters. I wish I had one for the last 30 years. Boy does this thing remove dog hair. Got it today at Petco, it's not cheap was around $49.00 but it is well worth it. Doesn't take long to use.
Once again thanks to everyone who mentioned it.

Ninja,
I think it was me, or at least I was one of them. But $49? That is crazy. We paid about $29 for it at Omaha Company.

Keep an eye out for it on eBay sometimes you can get it for around $25, though I finally lost patience and just paid the $35. Three house GSD's here and nary a fur tumbleweed in the house ... and we're shedding this week. Thank the furminator gods :-)

Need to buy stock in Petco if they charge those kinds of prices....they will fall on their face one day......although people spend money on animal pets without ever asking the price most of the time...good stock approach....

Save even more money.
A furminator is basically the bottom half of a #10 clipper blade. Take the top part off and use the bottom to comb out the dog.
We have used this method long before there was a furminator. I wish I was smart enough to have patened this idea.

Birdy, I noticed that as soon as I got it home. And we have old clipper blades coming out of our ears. Oh well, good for whoever can retire on the idea.
The medium size one runs about $45 in our area. I bought one and won another so it worked out okay. I like the medium as I can get in more areas, and can use it on the cats too.

I just got done raking my girl for a half hour. Is this thing really that much better than a rake for the price?

by Ninja181 on 04 August 2007 - 21:08
It is certainly easier than the rake. I also bought the medium one, the low one was $10.00 cheaper but the medium goes deeper. I've never used anything this effective & easy. It has a long easy to grip handle. It looks rugged enough to last forever.

i've been using a combination of initially the furminator, then undercoat rake, then a slicker
I got my furminator on QVC for 27 plus shipping. for the medium sized one.
