Ok I have a puppy that I am thinking about placing I post her and this email comes in

(email) Hi, how long have you had this female and what is the situation behind selling?

Can you email a scanned copy of the pedigree?  What is your price?

I am a German Shepherd owner and we practice with a local Shutzhund club in ********************.

What kennel sold you this female?  Thanks.

Fair enough so I write back

*****web site **** (not here to promote the puppy) all her pedigree and DNA is up there.

I did not buy her but bred for her. She is out of my pair.

Can you tell me more about your self?
Why are you wanting a female?
Do you have plans for breeding? and if so to whom?
IS she going to be kenneled or in the house?
Do you have children? What are thier ages?
What experiences do you have dealing with a alpha dog?
How many dogs do you have now?
How far do you plan on taking her?
Do you have a fenced in yard?
Do you have a cat or small pocket pets?

Thank you. Hope to hear from you soon BArbara

So they write back this

(email) Hi, thanks for the questionaire.  Of course you answered zero of my questions.  Yes, it appears you know what you are doing since you know which questions to ask to vet your potential buyer.  Very appropriate.  But why should I take the time to answer your questions if you cannot answer mine.  Good luck on the sale.  I hope this precious animal finds a great and fitting place of service in life.

WHAT THE.................??????  Can we not ask questions any more??????ARRHHHHH!!!!!!!

So I wrote back

Hi, how long have you had this female ( I bred for her I think I wrote that!) and what is the situation behind selling? Can you email a scanned copy of the pedigree? (I sent you her whole web page! not only her pedigree but video of  her training! DNA, and 8 week old Puppy temperament, information on the parents, about me and what I do)   What is your price?  I am a German Shepherd owner and we practice with a local Shutzhund club in **********************.  What kennel sold you this female? (She came from my pair out of my breeding I did write that too) Thanks.

"Of course you answered zero of my questions" ??????? I did not write price cause I give discounts to people that ACTAULLY work my dogs just not breed the hell out of them.

I do not understand why you are so defensive on this????? ANY good breeder or person that loves the animal will or should ask the buyer (that being you) how you are going to take care of my puppy. I don't understand why it was so hard for you to tell a little about your self??? unless........ but anyways I hope you do find a puppy that will fit your needs and a breeder that will not ask you to share a little. God Bless YOU  Barbara

Hello Barbara,

as I can totally relay to the problem, been there, done that, dont let it get you ! I have been in your shoes many time, potencial buyers treated with the outmost respect, ansewring numerouse questions to be asked at the end to send HD & ED x-rays of a 7 week old pup !! Or because of the fact that a buyer intends to work or show the pup, to cut the purchase price in half ! As if, the buyer would in return send me some money if the pup turns out to become VA. BlaBlaBla, I have come to the conclusion, that some of the buyers, by far not all, but some, are beeing just unreasonable. I am not angry about all the questions beeing asked, but all the the time spend to answer these requests.

But rest assured, most of the time, when you dont even think of it, someone will take your baby, and everything will be fine & dandy.

Kind Regards

Ulli Dresbach

Besides, that person just made the vetting process much easier. No way would they be getting a pup from me as they have wya to many issues already. How would you like dealing with that person if there ever was a problem? No thanks.

Don't let it get to ya. Some folks just don't get it.

Goose that is a great point!!!! I would not want to deal with that if there was a problem.

I did not think the questions were too bad just wanted to know a few things. Hell I have seen worse

They were probably just being nosey and had no intention of buying from you. That would be my first though anyway.

Sho looks like a cute pup.  You've done a ton of prep work with her for sure.

They may have wanted to get an answer on the price and reason for selling before perusuing any further. It seems as if the questions were half answered. When I am a potential buyer I do like to know the price early on to find out if I can even afford the dog before going through a screening. Just another take on things.

I agree with autobahn; sounds like someone just fishing not really a serious buyer or they would have gladly answered your questions and then at the end of that email said "could you please tell me the price?"  It would only be fair for you to ask me questions if I were a potential buyer.  If you didn't ask any questions that alone would make me leery to purchase from you.  And if I really was what I was saying I was I'd have no issues with answering questions.  I think you handled it appropriately and if given the same situation I'd handle it the same way again.

Hello Bradyla   I do not think it was much to ask for a little detail it was not like I was asking  them to spill their family history. I thought it was basic information. IF I can take the time to write why can't the buyer.

NOWDAYS buyers think the Sellers should jump though hoops to sell a puppy ( I want warranties, I want dicounts, I want perfect bites and tons of drives and this and that and can I have it in writing/blood) I don't see it that way.  I think it should be a give and take 50/50 .

That was not a screening,  just basic common questions. Just like the commonly ask (gotta love these ) IS she breedable and how much? and yet we sellers sit day after day and write back to these buyers (telling them NOWAY IN HELL

Thanks Animules I have fun working a training my pups. May never see a SCHH field due to all the prep work
