After reading all the horror stories and dissatfisfied consumers, both breeders abd buyers, I would like to see different examples of Bill of Sale ( or contracts) to see basically what is entailed. I know everyone has their own version but I am oping there is enough in common to give a gooed over all picture of what should be included. You can email me at killishandra_ree@hotmail.com I dont remember if I put my email addy in my profile.

Actually, it is good to have a bill of sale, it is more documentation that supports your side in the case of a problem. If you do have a problem, you can have a devil of a time getting restitution as Ms. President Yellowrose is implying. At least with the paperwork, you can: * email the Attorney General of the state the breeder resides in, to open a case and they will negotiate to settle the problem for free, *use an attorney if the expense is worth it, * go to small claims court, or * start your own special webpage with all of your documentation to ruin future internet sales.
Here is a website that has several examples of possible contracts, and I would not purchase a puppy without one in the USA (but Europeans are different, you can seldom get a contract from them):

Here's a wish that you find the perfect breeder with the perfect puppy for you, and all the precautions are totally unnecessary. The far greater majority of puppy sales do end happily for both breeder and buyer.

Actually Ms Vice pres Elect AkVeronica6o "Mrs Alaska Bear Hunter" , is right...Most successful sales are those that you get a reference from and someone you are referred to by several sources....Reputation follows you and if you have a reputation that is worthy," like Worthy Kennels" then you will be in good hands...buying from someone no one knows or has no references to give you, can result in a heartache.
I have prosecuted a man that the courts laughed at , and tried to postpone the trial, after all it was just about a dog....The cost of all the paperwork and the investigation and gathering all the facts and information to send to the attornery general and start a case action or file on a contract of a sale between a breeder and a buyer, is very costly...Cost me in excess of $4,000.00 and involved not only my dogs , but the dogs of four other persons, and three felonies were handed down on this man...
Didnt stop him from going right on breeding with his new girlfriend and used her name to do it all..He cant vote, or hold office or carry a gun, with three felonies on him but he doesnt care...thats the way it is....If I had more money, I could have filed a civil suit to reclaim some of my monetary recupe , but that would cost me another 3,000 dollars, so ask me about a contract......
That was not a solicited paid business announcement just telling the plain Alaskian truth....see sales /worthykennels as one of those you can buy the best for the best...."""
thanks ms vice pres elect ,

Heck, you're gonna make an old country gal like me blush, Ms. YR. There are many honest breeders on the PDB, including Ms. YR. Lots of options out there for you.

I asked you a question on the "I need advice" post. Perhaps, you did not see it. Well I will ask again and add to it a bit.
I don't understand! You come on here and say you need Tino for protection. You say you can't give him up because of this need. Then you start another post, which is the pedigree of a female GSD you own. Can she not protect you? Now, TO ME, it seems you are asking the breeders on here what should be included in a contract. Are we starting up a breeding program? Honestly, how many GSDs do you own at the moment?

I think that contracts are only as good as the "people" behind them.
Compose a contract, as if you were the buyer. What do you expect to be fair warranties and provisions from the seller..??
and keep them simple.

Don, Obviously you did not go back and read my response to your question under the "I need advice" thread so I will repost it here.
"Don, I believe you were one of the ones that chewed me out when I first came to the board because I bred Xena to Tino untitled and only a prelim OFA. I had been told by 2 different breeders that she would be a great match for Tino and would throw good pups. That was before I had been educated and am now a reformed breeder wannabe. Before this board, I had no idea what Shutzhund was or OFA for that matter. The damage is already done and there is nothing I can do to change that except learn from it and prevent it from happening in the future. I was going on the advice of 2 different breeders. I was referred to the second breed by the first breeder/Trainer for stud service, He had originally owned Tino and sold him to the second breeder, I had originally contacted him when Xena was in her last heat for breeding. I took her to him, he said she would throw good pups with big heads. If I am not mistaking, it was Tino that we were going to breed him to at that time but Xena was to far into her cycle and I missed that breeding. I contacted the second breeder about stud service Xena's next heat and after talking he offered me the dog for the same price as his normal stud fee because his kennels were full and he had a few more dogs arriving the following week.. At that time I thought I would be stupid to pass it up. I mistakenly assumed Tino , having come from a breeder/trainer, would have had training, altho at that point I didnt know what kind of training I was expecting. I am a n00b and am learning things the hard way, I did not have the experience to ask the right questions even tho I had good intentions. I also didnt have anyone I could ask for advice. I had gotten Tino and bred them up about the same time I started reading the board regular. heh I still remember my ludicrios idea to train Tino for Shutzhund. OMG i havent even learned to pronounce it right much less have the physical ability to engage in such an exhausting sport at this point, I hope to be in that condition soon and am working towards that goal. I have learned alot in the last 2 months and plan on learning a whole lot more. If I am extremely lucky, and learn enough to make an educated choice, I may hold back one of the pups to train while I am learning with a goal of titling, perhaps not Shutzhund but at least obedience and maybe even as a theraphy dog. The possibilities are endless but I am not going to make the same mistake twice and declare " I am going to do XYZ with my dog" We will have to see what the future brings. In the mean time, I am hell bent on learning as much as possible. I have to wander my way thru blindly because I of course dont know what it is that I need to learn ( does that make sense?)
I know I need to learn how to choose a pup, but I think first I have to decide what my goal is for that pup. See I have learned something from ya'll :)

That being said, Yes I feel I may have need to know about contracts in the near future, Xena is due to whelp Aug 13 or so. I have never hidden nor do I intend to that I have made a mistake and now have a littler of pups on their way. I was "raked over the coals" when I first disclosed that I had bred them. So now I dont make another mistake with the pups. I want to make sure I do things right or as right as I can considering the circumstances. that entails learning more than I know at the moment and the only way to do that is by asking questions. And I do not know where you got the impression that I needed Tino for protection and that was the only reason I would not give him up. I do not want to rehome him because I am afraid of where he may end up. As far as proection, My only concern there is being home alone in the country when my son goes and visits. I do not mean protection as in a trained protection dog. Perhaps you are confusing me with another poster that is in need of a trained protection dog that recently had difficulties with a club. I do have Xena but am unsure if she would really be protection per se, altho I am sure when she has her pups she will be protective of them. Perhaps we have a different interpretation of the word "Proection" For me that means a dog that will at least bark and intimdate if not actually physically defend me if needed. I dont really have a need for a trained protection dog other than for peace of mind.
