We recently we asked to be a dealer for Vertex and powerchow. We ordered some products, and began to test them on different dogs in our kennel. I am interested in your opinion on how this product really worked.
Our tests showed that it made no change in muscle mass, no change in appearance of coat. We did notice it caused more gas, and caused some problems with a few of the dogs stomache. The dogs did appear to like to eat it, which I am sure helps the dealers sell more, however I saw nothing in the product to help me explain to someone why they should buy it. I have a real problem selling something that I can't endorse. Thanks for your opinions.

how long did you feed it and how much?
Did the dogs get more excercises?
To test a food or a supplement it will take a while and a controll scheme to see diffrences.
But the most i told people about and let them try it to let the product speak for itselfs, which it did , even by very critic and suspicious older breeders/doghandlers.
I made very good results with feeding it , especially in stamina, during hot weather ,recovers easy, perfect digestion and very good apperance and coat for exibition shape.
I also put it into the food i use for tracking and dogs are crazy for these baits
Breeding females had a benefit from easy digestion and high value food upgrade with less in amount.
Also for the working dog it s a perfect addition to lower the digestive process from high food amounts and it also makes the food managment easyer .
I can buy one brand food and upgrade the value to every dog s personal needs. Use it also for older dogs .
Dont know if that helps you but it for sure is the one +only supplement I IMPORT from US TO Germany .

Vertex, PowerChow2 and UltOmega Salmon from CPN are the only supplements I use with my two German Shepherds. I train in the sport of Schutzhund and would not even think about not giving my dogs the very best. These products are not going to make a good dog great, it just gives the dog a healthy shot at being great. I switched from K9 Superfuel about a year ago to Vertex and have not looked back since.
K9 Solutions, how can you "endorse" an inferior product like K9 Bluelite you sell on your website and question CPN products. If you really understood nutrition, compared ingredients and actualy ran adequate trials, there would be no way you could make a comparison between the two products.
There are many reputable dealers out there, including Ray Allen and Hallmark K9, that sell CPN products and must carry it for a reason. It works! I am sure they won't mind you not carrying the product.
Greetings to Heavy in Germany.

Thanks to everyone that sent me emails about how the product worked, that did not want to post it. I also believe in not posting anything negitave. I have tried it for a few months, and after the problems, we discontinued it after about 45 days. This was over 8 dogs and different conditions. Some of you that emailed brought up a very interesting point on the powerchow that I will look into, which I was suprised to see that people have the same concerns.
Mike, I spoke to you on the phone when I was researching the product, and I think I am clear on the "proper use", the instructions are clear. We are going to keep the product that we have to run more tests, and hope to publish a comparison, with a 4 month controlled study.
Thank you for your opinions, and to those that emailed, I will be in touch.

I used Vertex for over 6 years. Maybe closer to 10 years. Maybe it was called Peak Performance back then when I used to feed green tripe. My dogs were always very healthy dogs because I ATV them every other day and swim them the other day. ATVing up & down mountains. My dogs have to eat the best. I stopped using Vertex over a year ago. I began using 100 % Whey Protein powder in their daily diet along with 1 lb. of 90% lean raw ground beef and Eukanuba Premium Performance (Now called Active). They also get 1 raw egg a week and cod liver oil once a week.Whey Protein is used by body builders. All of my dogs are on this diet from age 1 month. I must say that I do not believe in any of the advertised supplements that are marketed today that target our sport. Why pay for fancy labels with all kinds of claim to fame when there are other options available? You can order electrolyte granules from an equine suplier and formulate your own go juice for a fraction of the cost. The same as using Heartguard Plus. Why not order a 50cc bottle of Ivermec and administer it monthly? Ivermectin is the active ingredient in Heartguard Plus. I also have my competition dogs on Next Level for longetivity with their joints. I have some healthy dogs!!!!!!!!!!

You used a product for that long and you're not sure of the name of it? Now you think feeding straight whey protein and codliver oil is the ideal diet. A little knowledge is dangerous. I have fed Vertex and other CPN products like Structure for almost 10 years myself with excellent results. I have never had any negative issues other than 1 finicky dog that wouldn't eat it. I have seen dogs transformed from scrawny, no muscle weaklings to strong muscular machines from Vertex in a matter of months. I train with several top schutzhund competitors as well as PSA trainers that have tried everything and now use Vertex. They buy it from Jerry Bradshaw that is one of the founders of PSA. I think he would know if a product didn't work. Feeding straight whey protein in large amounts can cause crystals in the urine as well as stress the pancreas. The one given when feeding working dogs in balance of nutrients. Without that you could really screw up your dog.
