O.K. can anyone correct me or share with me what i have coined so far while reading about the creation of the breed???  Her it goes... (1) The Phylax society wanted to have dogs that looked like wolves (European classic wilderness nostalgia..) but wanted the dog to work with man on all possible tasks... (2) the group was disbanded and Stephanitz after getting Horand-the first GSD reformed the group using the remaining  Phylax society members composed of doctors, engineers, lawyers, businessman and farmers as the core goup (thats why we can get rid of politics within the S.V. it runs throughout history...)HORAND was bred to every available bitch that exhibits the groups wanted features  (3) two main types: Thuringian shepherd-small-wolf-like that of huskies attributes to the GSD  having prick ears, sable coat (bitch hairs being the remnants if Blk and tan...) set backs will be  raising tails; and the Wurtemburg shepherd  similar to Bernese mountain dogs attributes would be bone mass, temperament  solid colors, set backs will be floppy ears and long hair... plus  not to mention cross-over shepherds that has curly coats (like that of Laekinois and Mudis) and other forms of shepherd dogs present but in minority in Europe at that time...this will account to recessives that a breeder has to guard against...(4) Intense inbreeding led to what the Rittmeister thought would be the "ultimate GSD and that was Roland (All-Black mutant out of yellow sable ancestors, the coat was short and easy to maintain compared to the shepherd dogs common in farms,  black formal color for work as to provide stealth and stature for the dog that needs to serve...setback was that Rolands temperament was not that nice) (5) Sieger shows were already done those days and dogs were becoming large and tall (is that why the national dog of Germany is the Great Dane and not the GSD??) Klodo v.Boxburg was the turning point and he did not came from Germany (he came from Czekoslovakia)... Utz vh Schutting the standard for black and tan (recessive of Klodo which was sable) Still the sable color is dominant... major split after the war between Pfeffer v.Bern and Odin  and since then Black and Tan was in (especially the cowboy saddle-type GSD and Sable was out...) GSDs were bred for reccessive traits..e.g. the angulations of the forearm and legs are recessive to a more straigther forearm...(does that mean we are breeding for abnormalities??) Temperament also went bad due to this inbreeding and line-breeding scheme thats why TESTS WERE DONE and STANDARDS were set... Ow my fingers hurt... need to rest... can anyone continue???
