Hi All,

This is the second time in 2 days that my 4 month old puppy has rolled and screamed in pain while playing with her littermates. Then, she get up and limps on her left front. What's going on? any ideas?

She will see the vet Thursday. No obvious injury.

You might need to seperate this puppy from playing with the rest of her brothers and sisters. They're obviously rough playing, even to the point where somebody gets hurt.. To be safe.. just seperate them.

Pano is my guess, too - although I'm wondering if she's a tad on the young side for that?   I think Brittany's suggestion is a good one.  Let us know what happens & what the vet says.

and you might look for that broken toe nail,  had that happen once,  could not for the life of me figure out why a dog in the shelter would suddenly reel in pain,  and then limp off,  Then while clipping feet for Cheat Grass prevention,  Noticed the broken nail it was grown out a bit and not so tender but it all made sense,  They're hard to see unless you really look,  Might check it.

unless of course sueincc disagrees,  In that case completely ignore my above ignorant post.

thanks everyone so far- the thought of pano crossed my mind too but I was leaning toward not pano since that is bones growing at different rates and she was fine and then rolled and limped. They were not playing rough but I will sepatate them. Will check toenails. I hadn't thought of that Having not yet had a a pup with pano, I could be wrong. Do they scream like that? suddenly?

Some do yelp.  Let us know what the doc says.  Good luck.

check their pads also- down here sand spurs can become embedded in the feet and hurt like hades.  I would think this litter is a bit young for pano.

Good idea to carefully check pads, toes and claws with a magnifying glass.  Also feel around ankle while watching for a reaction, that is a very vulnerable spot.  If you find nothing I think an x-ray might be in order.

I thought my drama queen Annabelle was having a seizure, broken leg, dislocated hip or was possessed once.  On the third inspection I finally found the teeniest little thorn sliver  between her toes.  With the location I don't even know how she felt it, but the way she was kicking out that leg she definately did.
