I can hear the pit owners now..."My dog is such a sweetheart she would NEVER do anything like that," But, that is what these dogs were bred to do and, sure, while any an individual dog may be OK,, there is always that instinct in there. The problem for us here is that GSDs will be lumped in as a "dangerous breed," My concern is that our dogs could be outlawed because some idiots think they need to have a bad ass looking pit bull. If you ask me. it is like giving a three year old a loaded handgun.

OK Echo you are just being retarded now! Your comment gave nothing to this thread. PSP I like you allot but don't go there with the pits. There are many dogs of any breed that will do the same thing.
Yeah I have had sweetheart GSD's and I have ones that will eat other dogs, just like that pit did. I wouldn't go blaming the dog just yet because with the van waiting at end of the driveway, to pick up the dog, sounded a bit suspicious. I wouldn't doubt if the low life owner didn't throw the dog through he window for a little "fun" time. Quit blaming the breed and blame the idiot people who own the dogs. There are plenty of idiot GSD owners too. Do you think GSD's are going to be banned strictly on what pit bulls do?

I did not intentionally blame the breed, they can not help what they are and what they were bred to do. And you are right, it is the irresponsible idiots who are to blame.
I can't change my statement though that they were bred for fighting and this is what allows the idiots to use them as they do. Again, not the dog's fault just as if, in my analogy of the three year old with a handgun, the child shoots someone, it is not the gun's fault.
I am also going to be one very upset person when some politician tells me that I can no longer keep my GSD because another pit has mauled someone. It's happening all around us. Whenever a dog attack makes the news, and this is what the lawmakers pay attention to, most times it is a pit. There are probably many reasons for this but that is the bottom line.

On the news last night, it was saying that there is a camp ground type place right across the street from this house. It is under investigation now about the 2 pits. A bus that is parked there, they showed a pit going nuts in it trying to get ou the window at the camera guy and reporter. Barking its head off etc. People at the camp ground witnessed the owner of the pits, come back just after the other dog was scared out of the house when the people got home. He put the one pit back on the bus and sped off with the other pit! They cannot find him yet. The people who own the house, had to put their 9 year old dog down because of the wounds. The other one lived, but had puncture wounds everywhere! Poor dogs. And yes the people have 2 small children that are now staying with relatives until the mess in the house can be cleaned up. You should see it!!!!!! They showed each room on the news last night. Looks like a very grousum murder took place. Blood everywhere, walls, floors etc. Really sad. I'll keep ya updated on what I see on the news.
