Can anyone name me any reputable and fair priced breeders in the US or Germany. I am looking for a healthy Sch 1 female, social safe and kept as a housedog. I want something to continue training. I have contacted a few people but what they were giving me were older dogs ages 6 and up for $3000 or more. What price should I expect to pay for a dog around 3 or 4 or if I considered a dog that was 6 what price would be reasonable? Thanks!

Showlines or working lines?
Pet or brood bitch?
Sport dog or PP dog?
Some more info on what you're looking for would help narrow down the field.

In the US most trainers charge $1000 per month for a SchH1 and you will need anywhere from 3 to 6 months with 4 to 5 months being the average. Many charge extra for the BH, which is needed before the dog can do the SchH1. We charge 2200 Euros (approx $3100US) in Germany for SchH1 which includes BH, AD, KKL1, show rating, food and board. But you still need a dog to title.... one that has made it past one year, passed all the health screenings, has no disqualifying faults, is capable of Schh. That will not be available at puppy price of course. Add all of that together and it gives an idea of what a SchH1 dog in its prime, which is 3-4 years, should cost at the minimum. SchH1 dogs usually start at about $5500US and from there the sky is the limit. Young age, good pedigree, good conformation, good working ability, good anything will make price go up. More average equals a more average price. At 6 years price will start to drop because of limited useage you will get out of a dog that age, but even at 6 years, many dogs are not over the hill yet by far and demand a price that reflects their value. In addition to that, there are very few SchH titled dogs available that are also kept just as house dogs as many breeders, owners, handlers, and trainers have more than one dog and keeping them in the house is not very practical. Their special house pet is usually not for sale. Getting a dog that has been in the house under supervision is a more likely scenario. The out of the box solution you are looking for here is really not available for 3k. Why exactly does the dog have to be SchH titled? Especially if you do not want to continue with it other than for a bit fun bite work? A nice dog with a BH or a young started dog should suffice in a situation like yours if budget is limited.

It sounds like you may be looking for a showline?
If so, I know three breeders that have females that meet those requirements
First- http://www.vtds-gsds.com/ check out Harley on their "for sale" page.
Second- check out vom der Sauk in Northern Virginia, Kally is on their For sale page.
Third- If you don't mind parting with a significant amout of cash, try Mittelwest in IL. They have a couple of females for sale I think.
If you don't want showlines, disregard, these are all showlines.
