If we breed our female GSD that is UKC registered to an AKC stud, do we have to register the pups with UKC, AKC or is there an option to register with both? Thanks for any and all input.

Why dont you register your female to AKC? It would be easier.

We did not know we could register her with the AKC if she already UKC registered.

Yep you can double, triple or how ever many register your dogs if  you like. They will all except your money! Just fill out the paperwork and vwalla. I had a SV, AKC, UKC registered bitch. Won't do that again.

I don't think AKC will register a UKC dog.  I may be wrong but that is what I have been told!

Sure they will as long as you have all of the requirments they want.

If the parents are AKC registered, AKC will register the offspring.  So if your female is from AKC registered parents, you can register her with AKC.  If her parents were not AKC registered, you cannot register her with AKC (except special registration of a litter bred overseas and whelped here).  But you could register the sire with UKC, in which case you can easily UKC register the litter, and UKC will register individual pups from an AKC sire and UKC dam, as long as you can show documentation of who's who, but they won't do a litter registration unless the sire and dam are both UKC registered. I have several dogs that are registered with multiple registries, including AKC and UKC.

I know in the past AKC would not accept UKC registration.

I believe that if you register a dog with the UKC that the dog has to be under 3 yrs of age, but I'm not 100% sure.
