This is more of a hypothetical question right now, as I'm not ready for a pup.  But in a few years I might be.   Just trying to think of what I'd do if this situation presented itself.

I own a Male and am faced with the choice to keep a pup from one of two bitches that will use his "services".  This will be a working pup.

Bitch 1: Czech workingline pedigree same as my male, 3-4 linebreeding on a great dog IPO3, SLP1, SVV3, PZ2, SZP1, CACIT
Car z Kostolianskej cesty  good scores, but no videos and never seen her work, (out of area).

Bitch 2: German workingline pedigree, outstanding work, very pronounced...seen it and LIKE it.

Basically, the question is what would you put more weight on, pedigree and bloodlines or Working abilities.  All input welcome.

Regards,
Melanie

The pedigree for Car z Kostolianskej cesty is incorrect on dam's dam side!

I'd say a combination of both.

Has the bitch you like had any litters?

What have her litter mates produced?

Ultimatley I would come down on the side of what I could see and liked, everything else being equal.

Best

Chris

Hukka- Not that I can see, that's how it is on my boy's export pedigree http://andymalyvah.tripod.com/id1.html maybe someone fixed it before I took a look.  Thanks though.

Chris, thanks for your input... I would do more digging if it were a real situation there are other of factors to consider I suppose, lol.  I was just having trouble even just getting past the obvious dilemma.

Athos Oranto's dam is not Mery z Pohranicni straze!! Athos is a grand-sire of Car

Hukka:

Oh...my boy's pedigree doesn't go back that far.  Can you fix it or tell me who Athos's Dam is so I can?  I can't even find a pedigree by googling his name that goes back that far.  Thanks for the info

Melanie

Melanie, you posted the link to Car's so I just commented on Car's pedigree. Athos is out of Aura Troavyn CsHPK2567

Well, I think it would make sense if you listed the pedigree of the 3 dogs you are talking about so that people can give their input on the actual combinations.

You have to look at true genetic compatibility, not jut 3 or 4 generations back what ONE linebreeding is going to be... For example, if the West German line bitch doesn't have the right lines, then it wouldn't be worth looking at, and if the czech bitch was a better match genetically, then, well even if she doesn't have the best "scores" she could still produce much better with your male. (and BTW, FYI, I think a dogs scores in NO WAY should be considered when you are debating a specific breeding. Drives, temperament,  strengths/weaknesses, health, production records of parents, siblings, etc. BUT never a dogs "Scores".....)

Hukka, no problem I just meant that my boys pedigree didn't go back that far so I couldn't fix the database pedigree.  Thanks for the info, it has been fixed.

VHK, Thanks for you input.  About the scores....I agree to a certain extent.  Scores can be decieving, could be a training issue on an otherwise excellent dog, control/outing problems come to mind first, something that can kill a score but not necessarily my opinion of the dog.  Id much rather see a powerful dog have control issues than see a dog flat in their work, going through the motions without any real drive or fight.  So YES scores aren't heavily weighed upon but like everything else will be considrered IMO.  I just stated the "scores" because thats all I have, I would much rather see videos or the dog work in person AND likely will require this WHEN this does happen.

I stated this was hypothetical and will not name the females I have in mind, I just was wondering what I'd do IF this situation presented itself and couldn't decide so I thought I'd ask you all.

This other female just really made my head turn, she worked like a male...but is genetically not as compatible.  I just wanted to know what people thought....go with pedigrees or the bitch itself...I didn't intend for it to get specific, I just used an example to help explain.

Regards,

Melanie

Go with the bitch herself, bur research what the bitch has produced from previous litters. What they produce is more important than what they are when it comes to breeding. If they have not had litters before pick the best puppy from either litter. If they are not whelping at the same time, go with the better working bitch.
