On April 22nd & 23rd, 2007, I got a bitch mated with my dog. My dog is above 3 yrs & it was the first time for both my dog & the bitch. Till date the bitch doesn't seem to pregnant. What should I do to, 1st, to ensure that the bitch is pregnant or not or if she has a problem & 2nd, the mating doesnt fail in the future like this time, if it really has failed?

2nd is a coat related question. I know the dogs shed this time of the year, but my dog seems to be shedding a lot more than usual. The hair on the waist sides seem quite grey & are shedding. the dog has lost most of the coat. is it a skin related problem? shud i get him checked by a vet? what r the home remedies?

You might try a supplement such as Linatone, with Omegs 3s and vitamin E for her coat.  This helped  my dogs shedding a lot,

Being that both dogs are first timers it may be a little challenging to discover which one of them is having the problem if either of them at all.  It may just be that the timing was slightly off or that they never actually locked???  I wouldn't get too concerned about it just yet since this is the first time you tried to breed them.  If at first you don't succeed try try again. lol  Mother nature has a funny way of taking it's course.

@ AgarPhranicniStraze1, the dogs locked for around 20 mins on both matings. i dunno if it worked for sure or not.

First, dont be worried , if shes not big now , shes not pregnant, dont waste money unless u see a vaginal excretion at this time   just keep feeding liver ,cottage cheese, and yougurt and get the dog some cod liver oil or salmon oil, wild not farm raised and read www.schutzhundsportsdoginc.com   Dea n Calderons diet on nutrition.....

I had three females not take , so nature takes its course   eggs may be low,,,sperm count low because dog got too hot , or many factors....did they stay locked ?  how many times did you breed them and what length of time between?

make sure your male and female are very well nutritionally fed before any breedings and wormed before the breeding.....try try again, and AI is also a second option   much less trouble on bitch    and safe for male.....

she may have had a false heat    it happens ....

hi yellow,

thanks for the info.the owner of the female is not too educated about the breeding stuff & I think that the bitch was off heat when she was mated with my dog. I am a amateur at this as well & I am just reading stuff about breeding & getting info from all u guys here on this board & trying to breed my dog. I will check the bitch again once & will plan the breeding in winters.

btw, the length of mating was around 20 mins both the times, they locked for sure! but the mating took place on two consecutive days. does this matter? should the dogs b mated on alternate days? is it true that the mating is successful only after the 9th day of the bitch's cycle?

Will care for the nutrition for sure cuz I love my dog & dont want him or the bitch hurt due to the mating.

thanks
