Xabina isn't feeling so well. We went to the vets today and are awaiting test results.

Simptoms... weightloss, diarrea, not eating, moving real slow.

So very sorry for you. I am a nut case when my dogs are sick and I become an idiot who can not think. I also do not wait very well for the test results. I wish Xabina a speedy recovery.

Did they test her for lyme disease?

don't know if you live in a lyme area, but sometimes will see dogs on the older side with lyme induced kidney failure

No we didn't think that necessary. We live in town and she is on flea/tick prevention.

WE are pulling our dog food out of t he feeder right now. Do vets have the equiptment to test the tainted food? Anyone know how to go about that? I don't keep my bags to check the dates. We buy many bags and dump them into huge garbage cans with lids to keep it fresh and pest free.

4pack, please do  not panic. Jewel, went thru this. they gave her fluids under the skin a few times and switched foods and it brought the levels down. I do not know if your normal vet can check the food. I know Internal Medicine, (I hope I am spelling right, I am crying as I right this) can send it out.

did the vet give you any clue as to the degree. I would get her in NOW for fluids. It takes about 1/2 of waiting around and you can bring them home. Can you have them fax to you the lab results. Where is Blitzen when you are in need?? Did the vet give you any help as what can be done?

 what were you feeding?

I think you need to call the FDA to file a report.  A vet would not have the equipment to test the food.  usually it's sent to someplace like cornell or the like for testing.
