I know alot of you are involved in rescues and thought  maybe you could help.  I have been helping an elderly woman who could no longer handle her two year old shep.  This is the second time in a year that she told me she wanted to give the dog away.  I found a wonderrful home in the Allentown area.  The guy who wanted her purchased a new kennel (to keep the dog safe inside when he is not at home and also just finished having the yard fenced in.  Then the woman changed her mind.  The guy was so disappointed about not getting her.  I contacted a breeder in the area and she had a female that she said she was willing to give away.  Sunday he came down and met her, etc and told her he wanted her.  He planned on picking her up on Thursday, because he was planning on taking off  4 days to spend with her to get to know her, etc.  Today the breeder told him that she was pregnent and he could not have her.  I feel so bad for this guy.  I have met him and have spoken to him several times and believe he can give a gsd a great home.  I guess I am asking if anyone knows of a female shepherd in Northeast philadelphia area that is need of a good home, to please let me know.  This guy had a rescue shepherd before and lost her to cancer.  He has waited over 10 years to get another because before he did not have the time, etc to give to a dog.  He now does, and is so disappointed about planning on bringing her home and now losing her.  Any leads, advice would be appreciated.

Reno,

You might want to check out Mid-Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue at www.magsr.com . They have some really great dogs right now who are just begging for good homes.

Dear all:

Thank you for the leads.  I will work on them as soon as I return home tonight.

CMass:  Is your sable a female?

Shelley:  The dog he is looking for is pet, so unfortunately don't think he will be good for co-owning one of your working dogs.  Thank you for the rescue info.  I will check it out.

Ladywolf:  I just sent you an email.

Just wanted to let you know I was able to find a beautiful 2 year old female gsd for this person.  He fell in love with her as soon as he met her.  He has installed a new fence in his back yard and has already purchased, and assembled a kennel (just in case she was stressed when he went to work).  He told me he left her for about an hour yesterday and he came home to find her curled up on her new bed, waiting patiently for him to return.

Thank you to all who gave me wonderful suggestions on how to locate a rescue for him.  I was glad to see that there were not hundreds of gsd looking for a new home, but still my heart breaks for the ones in local shelters that he did not take.  I am now searching around to see if I can find someone willing to take Daisy out of the Berks County SPCA.

Take care and thanks again for all your help.

Cheryl
