I just saw on another site where someone said their 4 mo. old female was 19.4 lbs. My pup was 36 lbs. at that age, and has put on nearly 4 lbs. in the 2 weeks I've had her! And no, she is NOT overweight! When I asked the vet how much to feed her, she said she looked a little on the lean side, so I should not try to limit her food. (She gets 2 cups of high quality puppy kibble twice a day.)

Was that pup underweight, or is my pup big for her age?  The youngest dog I've ever had before was 9 mo., so I haven't a clue about puppy growth rates.

Once again a great reference on growth.

Thanks, Animules! So my girl is right on track there, and that other pup was either underweight, or very small. Either that, or the vet's scale measured weight in kilograms, not pounds, and the poster didn't realize it! (They were from the States, so I assumed it was pounds, though they did not state the unit of measurement.)

No kidding! I've just spent the last half hour or so browsing around!

Must bookmark it before I forget.
