Bob-O, you know what Louis Lamour said in one of his western novels - some folks are just in need of a good killin' LOL.
I guess I won't move to NM after all. Florida sounds more like my kind of place.
Frankly, I am glad my breeding days are over (I am speaking of dog breeding you know).

Well Texas is having some problems. One of our infamous Bush appointed state attorney John Sutton just went after and send two of our border patrol agents to prison. Alot of people in Texas are upset and demanding they be released. Turns out John Sutton was caving in to a request from the Mexican Government and hide evidence and also did not let the jury know this was a repeat drug smuggler. As he was fleeing from the agents he stopped and as he turned around reached into his pocket so they shot him in the side of the hip.
Looks like this will overturned and at least a new trail. The local Mexicans in El Paso do not like the border patrol even though both agents were hispanic.
Looks of shootings etc going on right now as the border is getting tighter and pressure is mounting.

Here in Mass. the criminal is nearly always "right". For that reason you better think twice before you shoot. It may be your last act as a legal gun owner. That said, a class A permit holder has a right and a responsibility to have control and posession of their weapon at all times. I believe that a dog is your first defense as he knows before anyone when something is wrong, but you better back him up w/deadly force when needed. I would rather defend my license in court than have my dog or family member take a hit. Jonah

Jonah, if you have good aim I don't think you will need to worry about the criminals point of view!!!!

You US folks should be happy. In Canada, they say, it happens this way. You are not allowed to own a handgun at all without a list of permits, investigations into your personal life history and a litany of restrictions as long as your arm. If you have longarms, they have to be registered with the federal gov. and locked up so tight they are inaccessible if you need to defend yourself in your own home. Oh, excuse me, you are not allowed to defend yourself in your own home. If someone breaks in and you injure them, YOU are liable. If someone breaks in and your dogs bites them, YOU are liable. Then when the crimminals are convicted (if ever), even if they kill someone, they only get 7 years max. and are then let out into the public with their ID protected so they can do it all again. Most of the housebreak/thefts are perpetrated by underaged and they just get a slap on the hand and their records sealed! When we got a break-in, my dog was only 4 months old and thank god they didn't steal him. I asked the cop who came to investigate (which amounted to about 3 questions and then he left never to be heard from again) what would happen if my dog were older and actually bit the intruder and the cop replied "you would be charged." I then said, somewhat bravely if not foolishly, "I don't care if he bites their _______ leg off!" The nice policeman just smiled.

Brittany:
"How can anybody charge so heavily for Yorkies? What's so special about them that makes them even worth the value of 1000 dollars?" This coming from one who uses 'Precious' as an avatar. (Another board)
Are we to charge for puppies by the pound? If it's based on value per dog, I have a Shih Tzu that was a successful show dog before I bought him as a pet at one year old when his owner got a better stud prospect. I paid $1000 for him on a non-breeding and he is the dearest spunkiest little thing. He is my little precious.

T and Gabi, in the house for all puppy showings, would have had PLENTY to say about that deal! They would give me plenty of time to get my psitol out and call 911. (read: morgue wagon)
I am installing security camera all over the property, a solid perimeter fence with a nice wire atttached to a bull-fence charger. Hell-o-o-o-o!

Redcap. Our criminals for the most part never carry guns. I will live with that rather than the other. I have several cop freinds who say just let your dogs chew the bastards up because the paperwork on the bites would be written in invisible ink. And you live in B.C.which is the pot capital of North America where its hard to find anyone without a shit eating grin.

"Our criminals for the most part never carry guns."
We have plenty of shootings around here. One fatality one block away last week. But it's only the crimminals who have the guns. It's mostly over drug rip-offs, meth labs and grown ops. Problem is, the meth labs and grow ops are in regular working folk neighbourhoods with children in the streets. Children are my neighbours on both sides, then 3 doors down there's a grow op the police don't seem to give a hoot about even though I told them about it.
"...just let your dogs chew the bastards up because the paperwork on the bites would be written in invisible ink.." LOL, that was my take.
