Most of what I write about I get from show catalogs, web sites and first hand (not hearsay) knowledge from training and dog shows. I even go to Germany 2 or 3 times a year. Anyone on this bulletin board can go to Phoenixgsd.org and see what dogs Frank Tate has for themselves. As you said, but apparantly didn't mean was to let people judge for themselves what he owns and breeds. I responded to a post where a man asked about Long Island breeders, I named two. I answered his question without maligning any of the 6 breeders I mentioned there. I even suggested they speak to the owner of empire land the former partner of Phoenix. They traveled, were seen and showed dogs they co-owned at two sieger shows, according to the catalogs posted at the WDA website. I myself judge a breeder/owner by the quality of dogs they publicly show whether it be a by product of what they bought or what they bred. Who cares! They are the owner of record. To me there is nothing more pathetic to see a person whose dogs are always running at the back of a pack month after month, year after year. Worse, while writing on these lists they lay claim to having knowledge. Its not the opinion of a person or what his friends say about his dogs, its what the judges have to say. There is a big difference in a dog placing fourth in a class of 40 than in a class of 4. There is a big difference in a dog placing V 25 at the German sieger show than one placing V 75 or V 125 even if you and half of the List disagree with the judge and like the V 75 dog better. Judges offer expert opinion and are paid to give it. A layman's opinion from someone whose dogs never win is meaningless, worthless or both.
