Olskool, you're right. It is difficult after all when there are many interpretations of the GSD right now...and the Rin tin tin/Lassie image is well grounded. Difficult to believe that the useful dog is often the complete opposite...
OLskool,
once again you are on point. I too recognize the two camps and though I like points in both camps,Shawn is right. A dog is a dog is a dog. What i can't accept is self proclaimed GODS that their way/view is the only RIGHT way/view.JMO
WOW, so it's my fault,
why was the dog out and not put back in your car?? instead, you walked him over to a GROUP of people sitting down.
was just supposed to let this dog stay in my private area for as long as he wanted,
after being worked????
you should have been a responsible person and have put your dog away for the safty of others.
people don't know you on here, Steve, i do.
all you ever did was brag about this dog trying to maul people. so the opinions of others really don't mean to much to me.
I apologize--I should have said, both parties could be at fault, it says nothing about the instability of the dog. I'm simply pointing out that people can be too quick to label a dog.
For sure, a dog like this needs a responsible owner. I can't even imagine letting my dog on a long leash around other strangers. If he has to be around people, he is completely 100% under my control. I muzzle him in public. It's not that he's shown the inclination to bite everyone he meets (in fact I had no idea how far he was willing to go until one close call), but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Actually i was responsible Dawn you approached him, he sniffed you, became uncomfortable and pushed him away where then he warned you. if he was that unsafe he would of bit you, but he did what he was supposed to do secure my area and shut off after the threat was gone. Try touching a policemans gun and see if you dont get shot, the same with a working dogs muzzle, that is his tool, his hands, his touch his sent his sight its all in that one area.
He outted and downed. i never bragged about this dog in the least thats whats my satisfied clients are for. it looks better when others do it for you instead of tooting your own horn. i dont need to do that for i am at the place i want to be with my program and my dogs. It is a privelage to say that i have great people behind me and a great foundation of dogs. between me and my group that i work with it is nice to say that we are consistantly throwing nicer and nicer dogs. With superb Lineage.
The Depts. Like what we have, and the private sector likes it.
As Far As anyones opinion Dawn We know yours is the only one that counts to you, so you know the saying. Opinions are like assholes we all have one and they all stink. Just because my dog isnt your type of dog doesnt mean its a bad dog. i am not into the showlines but i do appreciatethe good ones. same as rotties, dutchies etc. if it works i like it.
But this is neither the time or the place to waste my time on this. I am Sorry PDB people for yet another bashing slandering session in the small world of GSD's
Steve
how did i approach the dog?? i was sitting down steve. selecteive memory ,huh.
you pulled the dog away just in time, he almost DID bite me. DROP IT STEVE,you were wrong
Ive been trying to drop it but you must have the last word so be it the 10 or so people that were there that witnessed it must share my same memory bank sorry Hun.
toodles
A dog of course does not need a title to be hard nor does having a title ensure that it is hard.
Plus the hardness of any dog does not change due to any award or title.
hey steve im with you some what no 1 should put there hands on your dog next do you have any more like him for sale he sounds like what im looking for email me if you do im looking for the work not the titles
Its not that the dog is unsafe but he is socialized and trained to be more aor less a one person dog he gets along with people but he works with me like an object guard. you tell him its okay hes off alert you can sheake my hand and hug me but you act aggressively he will engage and thats why we stressed the automatic out.
You stop fighting he stops biting.
we utilize him for demonstration purposes with depts. and high level executive security
Steve Simpkins
