I stay in the birthing box for the first 30 hours and only leave it to get a potty break.....just watch the cloth it will get wadded up...I know ,,ive had it happen,,,my pups are wild on the second and third day...move all over the box....funny how something so little can move or scoot in short time....
If newspaper is toxic,,then there are 20,million men and women and children reading a morning newspaper , eating donuts , and drinking coffee , eating sandwiches and have these papers on their desk ,their couches and their computor tables.....sure better take notice then.....I bet the newspaper business doesnt know their papers are toxic.....thirty years of pups on papers has had no effect on mine so I will continue to use newspapers.....
You might call your local printer of your paper and discuss the toxicisity of the ink and see what they tell you, ////
I tried pine shavings and the pups had more in their mouths than I care to take a chance with.....and all over them.....I use the pine shavings in the play pens when they go outside.....but that when they are 3-4 weeks old and have use of the legs...and only put it in daily and remove or move the play pens to a different place every other day,,so the grass wont get matted down...and they dont dig...as they do dig at a very early age....

"Also, more house dogs are prone to allergies than other dogs. I heard of one person here locally who had a dog which was itching like crazy. They could not find the problem until the vet tested carpet fibers. Too much formaldehyde in that carpet. These allergy tests cost that poor person over 2000 dollars. Formaldehyde is very poisonous and can even be found as a preservative in rawhide if it comes from China. When we heard that we stopped buying dog treats indiscriminately and now pay attention to the small print. " Quote form Silberssee (CHRIS) on thread tonight ABOUT EUROPEAN DOGS BEING HEALTHIER...."
I was waiting for somone to mention the formaldehyde in carpet and Silbersee on another thread tonight was disciussing why our dogs here in USA compared to Germany have so many alergy and problems....
Carpet samples would be the last thing I would put a puppy on.....the very first thing a doctor or pediatrician tells new moms and dads , here in USA is when the snotty nose kid cant get well.......get rid of all the carpet in your home.....
Just about everyone building or remodeling homes today are ridding themselves of carpet ...wood or tile floors.....formaldehyde stays and never leaves carpet and every time you run your hand or foot over it , it releases it ...
