Hello, I have bought a great temperment dog, his ball drive is increasing. I got him almost 2 months ago, and no it was not a mistake. He is however 25 months old. He is great. His dad and mom are listed.

Sire: 2005/2006 VA 2 Quantum von Arminius

Dam: V Ursa von Descharo

Do you guys think it might be to late in the game to start him in SchH training? He looks good, he is on the pedigreedatabase: King del Monte Albino.

Go to a club and try it or you'll never know.

I am going to a club this Saturday. It will be my first time meeting all of them. I will be taking my other dog tho. I guess I would rather look dumb on here than in front of people of whom I didn't know. Did you ever start a dog out that late.

Give it a try, just don't expect perfection the first day.

patches... it is not to late to try! I will get in big "doo doo" here but when my Ger/Am line dog turned 2 years and OFA'd excellent I had to "try" cuz I knew he could do it! In about 8 months of training time we had our BH and SchH 1!! I wanted to go on but... hubby broke his femur and that was that!

I know have his grandson...I took him out at 1 year and he said ICK! Very disappointing but he was suppose to be just a pet anyway, so...so what! I bought a Kirschental pup and brought her to training  for socializing and decided to bring Ivan too. He really hadn't much in the way of socializing, a pet country bumpkin! Well Ivan at 2.5 said I wanna do this! He had learned alot at home for his drive to get a stick. He has been biting like a maniac now! In 5  training days (bitework) he is doing a hold/bark, runaways, frontal bite, stick hits, and outs and loving every minute of it. I am not sure we will title... I have to much on my plate these days, plus the price of gas. But it sure gets the "I wanna" going! So go for it!!! If it doesn't work out..its OK! Just love 'em anyway!

I will, thanks for the encourgement. I guess I owe it to him and let him decide if he likes it. If he doesn't, oh well.

patches, I started a three year old in August and he is doing very well thank you. Obviously not the same circumstances, but how much do you love your dog? Then why would you care what other people thought?

Because it seems that there is alot of politics involved in the clubs. I don't expect perfection or even great results at first. I love my dog very much and I think that if he doesn't do good at first that they might turn us down. I have more love for my dogs than I do for some people. But at the end, ur 100% correct.

I am a guy. LOL. My 4 year old niece picked out two names for me. Either patches or ladybug. I promised her I would let her choose my name. Kids........got to love them.

Patches,

You'd be surprised at what an older dog could do.  I've seen one guy bring a 4 year old female to club that had lived in a pet home all her life until her high energy finally drove her owner nuts.  It's hard to wreck a good dog.  That little female blossomed like you wouldn't believe.

Give it a shot.  If you've got a good club that is kind to newbies you should find friendly folks willing to work with you.

Best wishes!

Yvette
